when is there going to be a home console iidx game?

I played the shit outta my pirated Empress copy back in the late aughts early teens and sometimes I crave that feeling again. Rhythm games give you a distilled, crystallized feeling of progress and improvement that other games drip feed you.

You can get arcade data in 3 fucking seconds, dude. I don't understand why anyone would want a cut-down home release when you can play the real thing. If you're poor, build your own controller, it's a bit of wood and an encoder.

>>
>>386722530
AC data or sims. Infinitas isn't a viable option if you live outside of Japan unless you want to pay a ton of money for it, and it's not much better if you do live there.

I choose sims personally. There's a ton of fanmade stuff out there to grab. A lot of it is trash, but some of it is actually really good.

>>
>>386723008
You might have to consider getting newer controllers at some point, particularly if those are the US KOCs. I'm not sure how good the PS2-USB converters are that you can get now, but between that and the controller itself you could have lag headaches.
>>
>>386723008
Don't run the sims, it's a lot of work for a massively inferior experience. It's not hard to get a hold of the AC data, and as long as your PC isn't a toaster you'll have a completely accurate experience.

I'd rather have a wider song roster and Extra / All Notes mode from LR2. The more songs you can fail at, the more progress you can make.

Standardized timing is as easy as a batch replace with Notepad++.

For the life of me I can't figure out why someone can't just take the AC data to make it be a front end player for BMS files. This shouldn't even be a debate at this point.
>>
>>386723309
I have heard rhythm games called many things, but pretentious is a new one.
>>
>>386723135
One was US and one was Japanese. Where would you recommend I procure a better controller? Would I need to pay for someone to make one for me or build it myself?

>>386723231
Ok, I'll see if I'll do that. Are >>386722963 's files good?
>>
>>386723286
PS2 IIDX games stopped 10 years ago, and with them being PS2 games, they only can work so well with non-CRT screens, despite the later versions allowing some kind of timing adjustment to compensate for HDTV lag.

AC data is current and there's been a lot of incremental improvements and some gameplay adjustments to the game between Empress and now.
>>
>>386723509
https://www.gamo2.com/en/
I'd just try one and, once you confirm that you like your setup and will want to keep playing, order the omron switches from digikeyand some springs from Sanwa. My controller is the RED that I posted earlier.

The files should be fine, I've seen other people mention the link so it should be OK. I obtained it years ago.

I've just stuck with sims because I'm used to it and years ago it was a bigger hassle to get a PC to run AC data. Now it seems like it's easier to get AC data up than sims. As I said earlier, I'd just personally rather have more songs and options.
>>
>>386723748
thanks man, I'll look into it.
>>
as a beginner I've been using lr2 to play. Will using LR2 even at higher levels affect my ability to play on AC data whenever I have the motivation to get it?
>>
>>386724248
There will be a difference in timing, yes, even if you've batch replaced RANK on all your BMS files to be 2 or whatever Hard is. I contend that the difference isn't so great that you'll find the AC timing to be impossibly strict. I think you'll just need a few plays to adjust.

I use a different sim player at home and play Sinobuz at Round1 weekly. While I usually don't bother playing baby charts at home, I've had more AAAs playing baby charts at the actual machine than I've had at home. In fact, I'm at about 27000 songs played on the sim player and I haven't had one single AAA here. Not one.

>oh so you suck so why should anyone listen to your opinion on timing differences
Right.

The buttons on the IIDX controllers are probably much, much better buttons though. They probably don't give a shit about the buttons on those boards or even know what makes a good button, they're not trying to get 32ms timing accuracy, they don't care.

Niche product for idiots. You can build your own controller with arcade accurate buttons for well under half the price of any of the trash ones you can get shipped from China. The only "difficulty" is making your own turntable, but it's not that hard.

If the games were more popular, there would be more options. But Sows autists lock everything away because they're braindead, so the only sane option is to build your own stuff. I've got an IIDX and Pop'n controller, both combined cost me maybe 100 bucks.

What fucking buttons are you even buying? Because there's no way in hell you're getting enough "arcade accurate" buttons to make a IIDX controller for less than $50. You're either buying crap parts and are okay with it or you're a liar.

I live in Japan, so Sanwa shipping doesn't fuck me in the ass. They're really not expensive buttons, I could understand you complaining about the pop'n ones though. Those I just got from China because the Sanwa ones are insanely priced.

Honestly, the cheap chink buttons you can get for 20 bucks aren't that bad if you spend another 10 bucks replacing the springs and switches, you'll be just as proficient with either of them. Sanwas just feel a little nicer.

"You can build a controller for cheaper" and "You can build the same controller yourself for half price" are two very different statements. Like yeah of course if you get the Chinese buttons and build your own case you're going to be cutting down the cost of the thing a huge massive considerable margin, but it's not the same controller. It works just fine sure, but the one you would buy for more money is legitimately a better controller. You could build the same controller yourself with a wood case instead of a metal one and save money, but it wouldn't be half price, you'd save a third at most.
>>
>>386728962
I mean, they do play pop'n. they refuse to play crossbeats rev, groove coaster, and theatrhythm.

no one plays those games though.
>>
>>386728775
A piece of circular acrylic, some wax paper, and an encoder hooked up to an arduino.

>>386728984
You can build something that's functionally equivalent for a quarter of the price, though. This isn't the fucking arcade stick market, where you can buy a cheap case with every part replaceable for 30 bucks, which makes building your own pretty stupid. This is a market in which the MINIMUM option is 200 bucks, 300 if you want something with arcade buttons. Most people don't have that much money to blow on a controller with all the technical complexity of a toaster.

I can understand paying 200 bucks for a top of the line, force sensitive joystick, even if the parts themselves only cost 30 bucks, because you're paying for the R&D and the manufacturing. But when you can screw 6 pieces of wood together and drill a few holes for an almost identical end product, I can't possibly understand how anyone considers the rhythm game controller market "good value for money".

You know how much my DJ hero controller was? 5 bucks. And I could strip that thing down and turn it into an IIDX turntable in 20 minutes.

Have you looked at the stick market in the last 4 years? Because I don't think you have. Or maybe prices in Japan are so outrageously different, or you are so oblivious to the demands of the fighting game community, that somewhere the lines are getting crossed. Either way you're arguing functionality vs quality, opting for functionality over said quality whereas other people, especially those who do not have the technological knowhow who aren't comfortable with a soldering iron, would rather just buy the better controller anyways. Even if I didn't know how to build arcade controllers, I'd still just rather buy one because I value a metal case which I don't care to make myself and it saves me the time of doing the shit at the expense of realistically maybe $40 over parts of the same quality. Either way, I get what you're saying, you're definitely not wrong, and that is something people should take into consideration when buying shit, however your original wording was a lie and your values don't necessarily hold up to everyone.

>>386729441
And it's a real fucking shame too because DJ Hero was a good ass fucking game. The focus on scratching made it incredibly unique and it had a great track list.

Have you? Here's the market in a nutshell. There are cheap, cheerful sticks with metal faceplates and plastic bodies for 30 bucks. And then there's everything priced higher than that, which is made for complete retards like yourself. You buy the cheap stick, you put in Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. You now have a 200 dollar stick for under 70 bucks.

>especially those who do not have the technological knowhow who aren't comfortable with a soldering iron,
Nice to hear you've never even attempted to build a stick. It's all plug and play, quick disconnects are not difficult even if you're 2 years old and scared of the burny hot fire stick.

You can't buy talent. I like the sensation of reading sheet music to play an instrument. IIDX is the best game that I've played for that experience. If I bought a turntable I'd do nothing with it because I don't have that kind of talent.
>>
>>386730370
>There are cheap, cheerful sticks with metal faceplates and plastic bodies for 30 bucks
No there actually are not. The Madcatz Fightstick Alpha is fucking $80 and 100% plastic, the Hori Fighting Stick Mini 4 is $50 and 100% plastic, the Qanba Drone is $80 and 100% plastic. Maybe if you get that shit used they're close to $30 but even then I doubt it and especially still they absolutely do not have metal faceplates. Even if you were talking about the absolutely awful trash Mayflash sticks that are probably like $30, those still don't have any metal in them and the buttons and stick aren't even the same fucking size as Sanwa/Seimitsu, so now on top of buying a cheap piece of shit plastic stick, you have to dremel the holes to actually fit the not shit buttons. EVEN BESIDES THE FACT THAT NONE OF THESE STICKS HAVE ANY AMOUNT OF METAL IN THEM OUTSIDE OF WIRING, these sticks don't weigh a fucking thing and feel like shit on your lap, they're cheap to the detriment of actually playing on the fucking thing. You want to get into sticks that actually have metal in them? Jump to the Hori RAP V/Hayabusa, $150. Qanba Crystal, $150. Those sticks don't even fucking have Sanwa parts and they're that expensive because that's how much the case and the PCB costs when they're not made out of trash. Whatever fucking stick you're talking about, it's some mythical Japanese bullshit that does not exist outside of Japan.

>Nice to hear you've never even attempted to build a stick.
I literally work for an arcade controller company. I've built dozens of sticks and other controllers. At that point in the conversation I wasn't talking about sticks anymore, what with the segway and all, but glad you're not reading too well tonight.

On that note, I now am building expectations for the next one to be some kind of grand culmination of the series, with it being #26. Roots 26 and all.

There's so much wrong with this image I barely know where to start. You're buying from the worst possible site, for one. You can get the same buttons for 20 bucks on Aliexpress, you can get the switches for a buck each, but the springs are probably going to run you 20 bucks because of shipping, unless you can find a local supplier of the correct size.

So yeah, 50 bucks, worst case scenario. Add another 10 bucks on for an encoder and arduino to hook it all up to, and all you have left to do is cut your wood.
