I want to play it but the PS4 version is apparently shit and the Steam version seems dead. I don't get why so many devs are trying to make the NEXT BIG MULTIPLAYER GAME when there can only be a handful at a time. Between Overwatch, PUBG, TF2, Titanfall, CoD and Destiny 2 how much space is there for a new MP game to get a big playerbase? It's interesting because the huge scale changes things. In a normal FFA game you can easily get all the weapons you need in seconds (if you don't spawn with them). See a guy? Blast him immediately.

In this there's more of a survival focus. With no respawns and long matches you'll spend a lot of time using stealth. Sometimes you'll take a circuitous route to avoid a large town, or perhaps make a beeline for it since they offer better defenses. Some times you'll let someone run past you if they have vastly superior equipment + numbers.

Every other FFA game has been a pure combat game. This one is different.

In your post you show that you never played Lawbreakers yourself or at least weren't smart enough to figure out how movement works at all. Low-gravity is part momentum based while retaining a lot of air-control to a point where you can overcome momentum and give it a whole new spin. Firing guns greatly modifies momentum. Ctrl by default is blind-firing straight behind you and you use that to gain speed (while making it harder to chase right behind you through corridoors). You also bleed less speed when you bunny-hop after hitting the floor outside of low-grav as it minimizes friction. Combined with the gravity orbs in the environment or certain class abilities you can surpass Quake 3 or Tribes fluidity, speeds and complexity of movement/timing. There is insane pacing around the map possible if you practice and get good - you clearly never did. This is nothing like Halo and only a beginner who uses nothing but WASD and the mouse to turn claims it's a bad mechanic - movement is the one strong point of Lawbreakers.

It's been out for 2 days. Yes, it has a low player count. This is to be expected. It's a small game from a small studio with limited budget, designed to fill a niche.

A multiplayer game dies when you can't find a game without organizing one yourself. At the moment, this is nowhere close to happening. I see new people every time I leave a lobby and I find a lobby each time I look for one in under a minute most of the time, only occasionally having to wait 2-3 minutes. As a game then, that's healthy. You can play it. What more do you want?

What the game needs is good PR. If all people see when they try the game or ask about it is people asking if it's going to die, or people saying it is, then they won't play it. They'll have the impression that you can't find a game when you play it and they'll never be interested in it again. Same as talking to people in game. If people see a shared opinion that the game is dying, despite those same people liking the game, owning the game, and being in that very moment very able to play the game, they'll give up, they'll leave it because 'it's not worth playing anymore'.

We are creatures of habit and common experience here playing video games. The moment it looks like the experience has been lost we'll leave. Why? OW was $40 and that didn't get nearly as many complaints

Anyway my problem with this game is that there's no deathmatch/TDM, I'm bored of objective based modes now, especially in games like this where you just queue up and end up in a random map in a random mode, devs need to stop that shit, that's the reason I quit playing OW to begin with.

There are lootboxes but I don't know why people complain about that shit, the loot is all cosmetic and it's not a big deal anyway since the characters/weapons are kind of ugly and hard to pay attention to like you do in OW and TF2, feels like a publisher decision that just doesn't fit with the gameplay.

I think the game is just lacking in a lot of small ways that add up to a really lacking game, it's not even blunderborn or tortantic tier bad, it's the kind of mediocre game you forget about after an hour instead of memeing about for years to come.

Also the advertising for this game sucks, I didn't even know there was a beta last week until I saw a thread on /v/ but after playing the previous beta I didn't feel the need to play again anyway. They should have spent less time sticking literal who e-celebs in their trailer and focus more on showcasing the game itself, although I kind of understand why they did that because there's not a whole lot of content anyway.

People seem to really like matchmaking now, personally I can't stand it, I like being able to decide which map and mode I want to play. I think there's games with matchmaking that give you that many options but to me nothing beats having a server browser and lots of filtering options.

Just to join the discussion here:
While I do like to select the map/mode (or at least exclude certain maps) I do not want server-browsing back. It's tedious to find a good server with people on a similar skill level and if a few people leave you might have to leave as well and look all over again. If you have favourite servers marked it ends in them being full and so forth.
I do like ranking systems and matchmaking based on those to avoid large skill gaps that ruin the experience for the less skilled side though - it also makes getting into a game faster. Doesn't mean it shouldn't come without any aforementioned options like selecting mode or map(s) but convenience goes a long way to get into the game fast without having to study the current situation. It also avoids playing against the same people over and over as they might be confined to a certain server (like clan servers or such) and that in itself helps with propagating tactics throughout the community.

I AM THE LAW!

I had a serious issue in the game with the movement gameplay. It's one thing to give me all these great movement tools as some characters, and then let others take it away from me constantly.

It doesn't feel good to be hit with RPG style crowd control in a fast FPS.

One of the characters is basically just a titan pilot moveset, and just made me want to play Titanfall 2.
