Yes and no. Many people want the exact same thing with a fresher look. I for one want the original Final Fantasy VII with decent graphics. Nothing more, nothing less. The problem is with younger gamers who started out with the more "evolved" systems.

If company stuck to their guns and made remakes using the old game play system and story etc, they'd have a much easier time with cost and development.

Technically speaking, they're just being ultra super tight-lipped about it for some strange ass reason. The game's further along in development than KH3, at least in the story department, and I wouldn't be surprised if they reused some assets and animations from XV or its earlier versions to speed up development. They also ditched CyberConnect to personally work on it, implying they're working with a lot more confidence on the project now.

FF7 was special because it had almost pitch perfect pacing ESPECIALLY in midgar... when you played ff7 the first time did you ever think in midgar "damn what this lacks is some shitte npc begging me to bring him 10 carrots" or what ever shitty fetch quest/hunt nonsense they will use to exand the perfectly paced ~10 hours of midgar into a 40 hours game.
