ITT: stories or books that would make great videogames.

How is crap like this published and printed? There is greentext rp-faggotry that sounds better than this.
Conan the Barbarian. Done in the style and depth of The Witcher 3. Would blow Cyberpunk out of the water.

Imagine if those two things fucked eachother, wouldn't that be hot?
I sure hope nobody posts anything like that in this thread.
>A thousand year old vampire viking decides to take on ISIS from his dude-ranch
>Oh also it's a romance novel
Pic related is my choice.

Slenderverse: The Bible
I think the Dark Tower could be interesting. It would have to be heavily modified, obviously, but would work well as an action RPG I feel.
>>386715051
I know it'll never happen, but could you imagine an MMO?
Could a Jack Reacher video game work? Or is he too much of a mary sue?
>>386718571
>>386715051
I unironically love reading schlock like this, but viking vangels may be a little too much for me.
Pic related would make a good fighting game and GOAT anime.
>>386718629
That could definitely work if they just skipped everything that happened in book 4.Was the movie any good?
>>386715051
Thousand year old time traveling viking vampire angel
My vote's on Maze Runner. With the gameplay of Mirror's Edge with a day and night system, exploring the random shifting labyrinth looking for clues and getting the fuck away from the grievers.
>>386718746
There are way more horrible ideas for a TPS/FPS protagonist than Jack Reacher. The books about this ultra-secret super special agents fighting ISIS/Al-Qaida and russians are enough proof of that.
>Bad guys have pretty much foolproof plan
>Uh-oh, here randomly comes some guy with IRA training who knows everything about firearms and who is armed with silenced AK

>New York Times bestselling author
Is this a meme at this point?
>>386717230
>a competent Conan game
Instead, we got a shitty survival sim.

>1488 words so far
cheeky fuck

The thing is you couldn't have a Jack Reacher game where he's just gunning down waves of goons. His enemies are usually fairly small groups of conspirators with maybe a dozen armed mooks at most. Plus he's the top sniper in the entire US armed forces so you can't have him spraying bullets all over the place. Melee combat has to be based around completely debilitating the enemy as quickly as possible. There could maybe be some room for some LA Noire-y investigations and questioning.
It would have to have super-realistic damage and scare ammo, so that what few fights you get in are quick and practical.

She has zero feelings for it, she even gave him a full body exam while he was unconscious and explained his tiny penis to him.
>>386719009
I only saw the second movie but that was seriously some The Last of Us stuff.
>>386715051
The Witcher series
>>386719304
Don't forget you'd also have to evade from cops because for some reason all intelligence agencies and cops have a hard-on for catching Reacher
>>386719319
The second movie is not that good m8. Go watch the first one.
Most fantasy novels, though many of them would require it to be an MMO with decades of xpacs to be able to do the entire storyline, particularly Malazan and WoT, and cosmere once it's finally done after all of us are dead and Sanderson, having lived a full, fruitful life of 350 years, finally writes his final word on his deathbed, leaving a legacy of thousands of books to read just to have a basic understanding of his universe.

We need a main villain who is a skilled combatant, or at least has a bodyguard who is a skilled combatant. Could do a knife fight like Gone Tomorrow I guess. Something resembling a final bossI feel like having Reacher shoot the villain with zero warning like he does wouldn't fly in a video game.
Dragonlance Chronicles series
>>386717230
I hate that we'll never get this.
>>386715051
The wacky story of Charles II of spain
developed by Telltale
>>386719927
I've dreamt of a Baldur's Gate styled CRPG in the Dragonlance saga since I read them as a teenager. Especially the Raistlin books.
On one hand some kind of RPG a la Mass Effect based on the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy could be incredible.
On the other hand, seeing what is the industry standard for writing, I pray whichever higher being there may be to never let that happen.
>>386719053
All awards are jokes.
Stephen King's "Cell" would have made for a better cinematic game than both Telltale's TWD and The Last of Us
>>386719927
come at me bro, much better series
I think the setting could be fun for an adventure game.
Both Mistborn trilogies would work amazing as open world games.
>>386720132
So, stalker?
>>386717230
It'll never happen.
>>386715051
I've been really wanting to get published, I don't even care if it particularly sells well, with standards apparently this fucking low, is it really that easy?
>>386719197
It's has a great title.
>>386721345
Gotta find an audience
>>386721345
Yes and no. An established author could probably get away with that, but a new author needs to have a fucking masterpiece or something with a ton of mass market appeal, because editors get piles upon piles of trash and even decent writing that they don't entertain for more than a few sentences before tossing in the trash.
>>386721605
>>386721621
>mass market appeal
It's a shame the "Minecraft farting fetish for kids" route has already been taken.
