I actually wanted to play it at first. Then I gave it some time and realized it's extremely shallow. Catch slimes, feed 'em, catch new slimes, feed 'em, sell their poop, breed new slimes, sell their poop. That's it. No reason to explore besides to find different slimes. Same reason I didn't like Creativerse, there wasn't anything interesting or unique to find when exploring, just different kinds of mobs.

Then, when they get in internet fights about it they can look up the starmails and realize that the gender is intentionally left ambiguous, but it doesn't change the fact that the writer for this game knew exactly what he or she was doing giving Casey a female name.

I've been playing it. Went through everything except the glass desert so far. Would have finished exploring the desert but I looked away from the screen for a second and slipped into the abyss then didn't feel like walking back.

It's not deep at all and there's not enough content for $20, but it would be a good thing to get on sale, or pirate.

I feel like whether or not the bitch is a lesbian is irrelevant.
The game is inane, I don't give a fuck about boxes of slime shit. There are aquarium simulators with as much if not more depth.
So growing attached to your animals is out, what about the ranch and your house? Can't really personalize that either.

So finally the last bastion of farm sims - the character itself. Can you customize their appearance and personality? Maybe you want to self-insert, maybe you want to create a an idiotic character to pass time, whatever.
Nope, and for what? What compelling story are they trying to tell that required this pastel haired black chick over character creation?
Why should I care?
I guarantee there are countless farming sims - or really any game that involves building like Tycoons and Terraria - where people experience or get bored of all the content, but keep returning occasionally just to enjoy the memories in their creation. I don't really see how you can do the same with Slime Rancher.

You know what "comfort" is? Being in an environment suited to you. If you can't modify your environment, is that really comfort?

It's fun until you've unlocked all the zones and got all the slime types in corrals on your ranch, then it just becomes a grind to get all the 7zee club rewards.

You can monitor the market conditions to time the plort sales better, maybe earning a couple hundred more newbucks everytime you sell a bunch off, but it's still a fucking grind.
