Ys: Memories of Celceta is one of my favorite games of all time because the back half is 12 non-stop hours of action RPG genius, but the first 1/3 or so is pretty wretched. It's a really hard sell when recommending it to other people, but personally I'm incredibly glad I stuck it out.

Not true at all, I play with 3-5 friends almost every night and we have definitely bumped into some bad multiplayer games. Some very common problems are games where playing with friends is a hindrance compared to playing by yourself or games where if someone dies they're forced to wait for everyone else for a long period of time.
