my point is that you are overstating the facts. Witcher 3 isn't watered down just because everyone liked it, it's just an overall fantastic video game. To be more specific though, let's consider 2 simple facts:
- witcher 3 was not a console exclusive so it has a bigger audience from the get go, obviously increasing it's popularity by a massive amount
- witcher 3 also constantly goes on huge sales and had fantastic marketing before release which has also lead to a large popularity

the UI is entirely based around AAA norms
the dialogue system is mass effect without a wheel
the magic system is 5 spells
of course it had a high marketing budget, it was made for idiots who never play non-AAA non-criticapproved garbage

I agree with some of these points, not all of them. The games combat is nowhere near arkham combat. The UI is shit, I agree, the open world meme and minimaps and stuff are not my favorite type of UI either but whatever. The dialogue system is a dialogue system, it's like writing a book, there's only so many ways you can do it. The wheel itself is literally retarded so stripping it down to basics isn't really watered down, just the best that you can do. The magic system is upgradable so there are more than 5 spells and I would argue isn't really watered down, just isn't really that in depth since they were busy putting depth in other parts of the game. It's literally just like a souls magic system, use a spell then save your stamina to use another.

The UI is the one thing I really agree with you here on, it is very watered down, and very accessible, only thing is that the world is also extremely huge so while this might make the world very accessible it still doesn't water it down completely since the scale is so large to begin with. If were talking about things like witcher sense, then yeah it's an abomination and should never have existed
