Concept is cool, it could of been a good game but there's too little game. If they'd really gone into it with level design and some intricate puzzles, especially given the theme of the game they could of done a LOT better of a job.

But nah, entire budget was poured into that character model and animations. Game has nothing else of substance.

Because I don't have a ps4 or a gaming computer. The game looks great and intriguing and intended up watching some one play through the game start to finish. It captivated me. I think some of you who can play it should maybe when it goes on sale or if you don't mind the 30 bucks it costs now. Especially if you don't mind sometimes having story taking the front seat over other mechanics ala telltale games.
If they had put it out on the shitbox one I'd have played it. But I made a poor choice backing a horse I used to like and he's old and lame now.

Watch it rather than play it. The puzzles are crap. Its basically find the runes in objects to pass through a door. Fight same enemies over & over. Fight interesting looking bosses that are all the same mechanically.

Basically you play as a Celtic woman who was IRL a Pictish goddess. She suffers from schizophrenia. She finds a boy that likes her but her father exiles her after he sacrifices her mother who was also suffering from schizophrenia.

She comes back only to find Vikings had come in. Killed her entire people. Her BF was sacrificed in Blood Eagle fashion. She goes nuts (literally) and starts losing her mind.

She then speaks to one the only survivors who had been enslaved but escaped back. He tells her stuff about the Northmen (Vikings) and she goes on an imaginary journey through Helheim to defeat Hella. Which is just her in her mind accepting that her BF isn't coming back.

thought it would be a way to give someone a look into psychosis. Turns out they just went the easy-route with "constant voices bombarding you" and her "seeing stuff" that isn't there.

Only thing I kind of liked is the idea behind the puzzle-design. People with a psychosis often see meaning, shapes or signs in ordinary things. Pretty much what you do with those shitty gates. Shame it makes for a repetetive puzzle they pretty much solve for you with the floating runes.

Quite the disapointment. I'm curious how much actual input they used from actual people who suffered from psychosis.

Not far into it though, so maybe it'll turn into high-gear. Biggest rise I got out of the game was the first achievement-notification sound on gog-galaxy. Freaked me out.

As it stands it more closely resembles someone suffering from shizophrenia than it does psychosis.

It could be great if it was even more of an horror game and did not focus so much on Senua and the fucking drama to make place for more action sequences and horror scenarios.

The game's combat could actually be fun if Senua just had some combos and could move more freely around the battlefield. But worst of all is the abysmal enemy variety, I'm 80% through the game and there's been only fucking five kinds of enemies, two of them are the se for all purposes and only one does not do the annoying slow walk towards you.

It should play a bit more like a hack and slash / souls kind o game with patrolling enemies and some ambushes throughout the levels rather than just send tiny waves at you in set encounters. Its like Doom only incredibly unfun.

Plus, this game could gain so very much with a little creativity on enemy design. In am horror ge where combat is so sparse you better make sure every fight is memorable, and the best way to do that is throw some horrors inspired by Senua's psychosis. But you won't see that from Ninja Theory, even though they did DmC (for all that's worth), so they should be able to whip up something decent enough.

Bosses are terrible too, Surt and Crow guy share the same gimmick of being invulnerable until Senua uses focus, and both are uninspired humanoids and laughably easy, which removes a lot of tension from the fight, though Crow guy is serviceable, the game could also greatly benefit from a Garm boss fight.

Overall, they should go with a God of War / Dark Souls approach to bosses, let Senua do something gamey and cool for once and beat a strong, dangerous enemy, the kind that makes your pulse race.

But the worst part of the game are the puzzles. The gates and some perspective ones are nice although nothing original, but the rune ones are 90% of the time dreadfully boring. Just to salvage the game you'd have to redo most of these puzzles, specially the boring-ass ones prior to Surt.

I liked games about schizophrenics when they were called American Mcgee's Alice
