I had my own theory as well that Sovereign was aware of the Catalysts existence which was why he allowed Shepard to destroy Sovereign.

I don't really keep any theories, but the idea that joker doesn't actually need glasses and wears them to make himself seem less threatening to those around him is alright. It's pretty thematically appropriate and makes also sense considering he doesn't wear them before coming to tokyo or when in the metaverse.
