I bought the double pack, mostly been playing the 3DS version in 2D mode though, it's really nostalgic and fun.

I think I also kinda like the 3DS version of the combat better, on PS4 you can play more re-actively and that makes it kinda really really easy.

We are getting a English switch version, right? I almost want a justified reason to buy a switch but can't yet. If the Switch gets Dragon Quest XI and Shin Megami Tensei V I would buy one instantly. Once you've actually played the game and you've seen the game world up close and not just screenshots, they really do not clash. It might appear at a distance that there's this ultra realism going on but it isn't. Everything is about as cartoony as the characters, and most objects actually have that celshading line around them too if you look really closely

Plus the characters have a fair amount of detail too. They're far more detailed than DQX. I was getting uncanny valley when I first saw them because there are parts of them that look amazingly real. Everything except the toriyama eyes pretty much

So the 3DS version and the PS4 version are the same game.
The 3DS version can be played totally in 8-bit mode.
Doesn't this mean that the PS4 version is just a really really graphically updated version of what is technically an 8-bit game's design? So there's no clever use of 3D space in dungeons or towns or anything? Can somebody confirm this please or am I mistaken
