Will it fail?
>>
>>386686337
no
>>
Valve haven't made a glaring fail yet, but this could be it. Something no one wanted, in lore that doesn't exist fleshed out yet to make way for good anything.
The only benefit would be player-friendly policies such as trading cards between friends or selling them on the marketplace.

If its "just" as good as Hearthstone, it would probably be okay just to play if a playerbase exists considering you just trade shit rather than spending money or grinding
>>
>>386686337
yes
>>
>>386686337
maybe
>>
probably not.
they dont have idiots running the company so they must have seen something groundbreaking when undertaking this project.
>>
Hearthstone won't be dethroned, there are other card games on Steam that are better, and Dotards only want to play Dota

Blunder of the millennium
>>
>>386686337
Valve will just make some addictive gambling shit like for CS:GO and it will be successful.
>>
>>386686337
>will a game made by valve fail
>that uses the steam market
>that uses dota as the theme
>will it fail

HMMMMMMMM
>>
No, but I wish it will
>>
probably not, people have complained and booed at valve before several times like when Left 4 Dead 2 came out but they still played it

it fucking better
>>
>>386686590
>online card game
>must be groundbreaking! no way would valve try and copy something currently popular for easy cash
>>
>>386686337
I mean no other online ccg beside hearthstone has really been successful, so I am expecting a flop, but not a total flop.
>>
It might, I hope it does.
I mean, imagine the steam market place, there'll be one card that'll sell for 500$ some foil player made op super card or some shit. Just wait until you're unlocking loot boxes to put hats on your cards.
>>
>>386686632
People who play Dota want to play Dota, not a card game. If it was integrated as something to fuck around with in between queues maybe.

>>386686763
Shadowverse is definitely successful. Not killing Hearthstone successful, but as a money generator its good and the mobile part was always huge in Japan

plenty of dota players play hearthstone/gwent during queue.
>>
Valve boasts about how it's development structure is very lax and people can work on whatever project they please. I'm fucking bewildered that anybody who got a job at valve wouldn't immediately scoot their ass over to the cobweb covered Half Life 3 desk and get to work.
>>
>>386686337
It won't really fail, but it won't kill Hearthstone.
HS already as the Timmy crowd and a good bit of the Johnnys. Not sure how big the Spike crowd is in comparison, but it would likely be a big draw to it if it's anything like Dota 2 proper.
>>
>>386686337
they'll monetize it in some unique way somehow which will draw people's attention, then people will suck it down like pure raw electrolyte juice (that is to say the shit of the jews)
>>
>>386686904
That sounds different enough to be worth a try, might be TOO different to succeed. Complicated shit like that won't draw people from Hearthstone.
>>386686919
>>386687091
Eh, I would have taken all those resources and put them into making customs WAY fucking better than they are now. A built in editor for instance.
>>
>>386686337
Of course it will fail.

They don't realise that the only reason they have so many tards playing dota is because you can just blame everything on your team when you fuck up tremendously
>>
>>386687118

they get shot down by more senior employees, check out glassdoor
>>
>>386686337
Of course not, the niggering dregs still using Steamâ„¢ in 2017 are brainwashed retards who will eat this shit up.

Impossible.

what does this even mean? Like take the dota editor but instead of having to open it seperately you have to run dota 2 first then open it inside of dota?
>>

would take some massive balls to dust off HL3 and take responsibility for the result after all the wait and hype it would generate. nothing short of a masterpiece would ruin the dev at this point

My thoughts exactly.
Although you have to remember HS' largest chunk of players is from China. They may like more complicated stuff. (And it would also make it more reasonable to call a fucking card game an esport. It's fucking ridiculous to call HS esport.)

Maybe initially, but if it does it will just lead Valve to shill it in Dota more.
Maybe a couple of cosmetics and items for Dota characters that you can only obtain through playing this game, and then if that isn't enough it'll be pushed even harder with even further benefits for playing both games, maybe even some CSGO cosmetics.

...Steam Machine? Isn't that a failure?

What you don't seem to realize that they are so fucking rich they can afford these failures. Steam, Dota 2 and CS:GO generate insane amounts of revenue without then needing to innovate at all.

>>
>>386686337
No plenty of normies, nu-males, women and faggot who will eat it up.

I look forward to some grrrrl gamers with low cut tank tops streaming this game.
>>
>>386686337
So this is the state of gaming now. Every developer will now just make a cartoon fps, a card game and/or a moba and just be done with it?
>>
from how day9 was shilling it sounds way different from the standard ccg. Add to that the pull of steam and maybe cards being tradable through the market and there's no way it's going to fail.
>>
>>386689641
Cartoon FPS is the ultimate form of action game
Card game is the ultimate form of turn based strategy
Moba is the ultimate form of real time strategy

All bases covered
>>
One more game to exploit their fuckin community market and thus providing Valve with more shekels.
>>386686865
Now this guy has a great idea.
>>
>>386689641
This is just Valve being greedy fucks and wanting a slice of the Hearthstone pie. It's literally the best way to make money in videogames since you don't have to invest in complex models, animations or even balance since the "balance" is fixing shit in the next set of cards
Other card games bomb all the time because they don't have big names backing them up like that Elder Scrolls game and Gwent
>>
>>386686337
it can't. if nothing else it'll be the new gravytrain for steam funbucks and everybody will hop on
>>
>>386688556

They definitely will be. Can't see Valve blocking that.
Probably means we will get something like Unusual Cards, though.

This reminds me so much of the Federation Force reveal. Now I understand how Metroidfags felt during those dark days.
>>
>>386686337

I'll wait until I see how it's played before I declare it dead. It's doomed if it's just another simplified hearthstone-like.
>>
>>386691826

If they can make a genuinely good competitive F2P card game that you don't need to sink hundreds into I'd definitely check it out. Getting it constantly shilled on steam and having the cards actually be able to be traded already cuts down on 2 major barriers other card games have.
>>
Who wanted this? Did anyone wake up and say, "Man I sure wish there was ANOTHER card game on the PC"? Anyone?
