I hate how inferior she is to everyone else. Her damage sucks and she's squishy. Her moves aren't visually interesting either, except Summons (which are more on the Summons themselves). At most I can say she's useful for Force Seal shenanigans for stun locking.

It's a shame because she has traits I like. Uses ofuda, is a ninja, is a summoner, etc.

Cyan is only bad late-game when everyone has access to espers. Cyan's counter does ridiculous early game damage and his lv 1 sword art is essentially a superior attack command.

If you aren't retarded you can charge his sword art to level 4 for free quad damage while everyone else is in animation or waiting for their action.

Cyan can carry his team in the Narshe defense and is still good while trying to retrieve Terra in Zozo. If you aren't grinding esper gains he remains good for quite a bit still.

Cyan jives badly with the lategame meta but he is a solid character overall. Lategame meta is Final Fantasy 6 is a joke anyways since you can grind attribute gains - The only characters that are objective garbage from pure min-max is Umaro and Gogo, and they are still competent characters.

Don't like Cyan's speed? Level him with Odin. If you keep a +Magic esper on a character all-game every offensive spell is going to do 9999 damage by late game.

The problem is is that outside of a few characters, they're mostly defined by their special skills. With Cyan's unique skill is that you have to wait to build it up, so that basically means that you're doing nothing while the enemies wail on you.

Who was the big dummy who decided that "We're going to have one character who cannot use the unique system of the game!"? I know what you're thinking "but she's a healer!"

Yeah, but if you want to use her Dragoon armor, then good fucking luck, because that means that she builds up her meter extremely slowly in comparison to everyone else! By the time she starts getting good gains in building up her meter, the Dragoon System is effectively useless! It doesn't help that half of the bosses in the latter half of the game effectively punish you for daring to try.
And seeing as she doesn't have anything unique to make up for it, like being able to use magic or something, basically means she's a hobbled character.

When I got Histy she was one shotting everything after I got her some levels, so I kept her for a while. She got pretty useless pretty soon, because like you said, she was way too squishy for bosses. Now let's talk about the story. All the bitch does is get kidnapped, or pine over Dart. She never really does anything on her own, and has no real goals to speak of other than being next to Dart. To keep the whole "love" plot point dragging it's carcus, Dart keeps telling her that he sees her as a baby sister.

There's a part in the game where she goes "Oh, when you were gone I though about you every day! I don't mind being your baby sister, because that means I can be next to you everyday.."
FUCK YOU. This was written in fucking 2000, and that's the best shit you could come up with with this slut? This is the legendary final fantasy killer? Go home with that!

Then, worst of all, she's kept out of numerous boss fights. Literally, even when Dart, Lavitz and her are the only characters around, she gets poisoned, possessed, or they just say "Stand back, little lady!" FUCK YOU

Then halfway in the game, surprise, she's the legendary Moon Child. Then surprise, she loses her Dragoon Spirit, because she's getting kidnapped for the rest of the game. And I guess because since they created the character with Shana in mind, when they basically superimposed Miranda over her, Miranda gets her shitty stats and her gameplay! What a great idea!

I mean, I liked Legend of Dragoon, and you could probably do amazing things with it today, but there's a lot of reasons the game wasn't the Final Fantasy Killer people said it would be.

Been playing Berseria for awhile and I can't seem to get this guy to work. He only seems good is when I'm controlling him but doing that means not playing Velvet which feels like a bad move. Any time I'm in a major fight the enemy blocks his attack and the AI eats a free mystic art.

It's not only Noire. Every maker stat is higher than CPU stats, yet any CPU outdamage any maker. But as you said, it's a CH game, it's unbalanced. Makers shouldn't even be playable anyways, since having makers and literally goddesses fighting together makes no sense to start with.

This isn't really a problem if you make a point to charge during character qued character actions and becomes even easier to manage if on the same team with Gau, Umaro, and Mog.

Early-Mid game Cyan doesn't really need anything beyond sword tech 1, 2, and 4. Late game once your attack becomes godly thanks to such combos as offering + genji glove most characters unique abilities become useless anyways.

Approached from another way - Cyan being competent with minimal investment allows you to train up other characters with espers without making FF6 a complete grind. And if you want Cyan can become just as broken as almost everyone due to being able to equip espers unlike Gogo or Umaro.

I feel like almost everyone in FF6 is worthless by endgame. Celes and Terra are both obvious choices because of magic, and Locke's good for thieving. Edgar and Sabin are good for physicality. But everyone else?

Cyan - Bushido sucks, and his last move takes 10000 turns to do less damage than a single spell. What the fuck.
Relm - Sketch usually produces a shit attack, only good for Control and that's rarely needed.
Strago - Most of his magic sucks. And he can learn regular magic too, so why bother?
Gau - Enjoy farming all the monsters and then trying to figure out which 5-6 out of dozens are actually good.
Setzer - I heard there's a chance for his slot move to kill your entire party. Most of the time it's just worthless though.
Gogo - They took the OP Mime from FFV and made his stats terrible - why?
Mog - Do some dances that might unleash a powerful attack - or just do a powerful attack?
Umaro - I stupidly brought this bastard to that magic tower with me, and had to kill him off just so I could beat the boss. You can't control him at all so he's just as awful as FF5's Berserker.

You only gain hp/mp from level up by default. Stat gain is based on the magicite you have equipped. Hence why most tier lists go off their unique commands since you can grind anyone into whatever role you want.

Relm does have the second highest base magic stat so that's why she's pretty good if you aren't grinding.

Also, from what I recall, as of the DS build, Amos has impressive physical stats. Slightly different from Hassan (IIRC, more HP and VIT and I think AGI, but less STR, MP and INT?). He's more focused physically than Terry, I know that much. Terry is just a shittier version of the MC (though they finally changed this with the mobile version were he has stats that are only slightly less worse than the MC but >mobile).
I was surprised that Chamoro/Nevan has really fucking heavy VIT and the best HP of the magic-users. I don't know if I just got really good rolls or what, but he was tanky as shit for a healer, even for a "DQ3 Priest"-type.

It's actually somewhat decent if you do the Amos quest ASAP, but it reaches its potential fast and just drops out afterwards. Stomp IIRC does damage based on Amos' level, but by mid-game the formula doesn't dish out enough to be worth it.
Drango/Lizzie is also OP if you've never used her. IIRC, she also learns all of the Dragon class skills inherently and a few other useful things like Falcon Slash.

See, what really breaks my heart about Binding Blade is the amount of units that are just COMPLETE GARBAGE.
Me, being the 100%ing autist I am, prefer spreading level ups in a way where every single unit is usable despite me knowing that inevitably I will not be able to use all of my units on the final chapter.
When you throw a game like Binding Blade at me where there are not only a ton of the garbage units like Wendy, Cath, Treck, and Roy, but also insanely good units like Percival, Lilina, Clarine, Miledy, and Zeiss I feel like there is no point to even choosing the former terrible units (except for Roy because he's a lord and you're forced to use him every chapter) for battles when I could just use the characters that I know won't let me down.

I really hope that if the Director of Shadows of Valentia does make a Binding Blade remake, he'll make adjustments to the disappointing units to make them more usable.

Looking back on it, no. It probably isn't good objectively good.

But it took a different approach to the JRPG combat system that was probably for the best. The random combats were well timed so that if you just naturally ran from one boss to another you'd be ready to fight it. The characters are all simplistic but there is a real earnestness there that makes you care about them. Unfortunately like any jrpg though a bunch of them outright done get the time they deserve.

But for any jrpg fan growing back then Legend of Dragoon was a formative game. It's distinctive and good enough. A sometimes you don't want to play an anti-hero with a tragic cynical backstory. Sometimes you just want to be a big damn hero and Legend of Dragoon is great for that. It's at least a 'good enough' game and genuinely deserves a sequel or prequel.

Actually, the stronger single target damage character is Neptune with the Ignore Enemy Category disk. This disk has no effect in Noire though, since she has it passively. And yeah, it's not only Noire, any CPU deals more damage that any Maker, and the discrepancy grows larger as you gain more levels. Also, only CPUs have ultimte weapons for end game, making Makers even more useless.

MEN is magic defense, it doesn't affect anything related to damage you deal. INT is magic damage, and she wasn't debuffed for that until the jammer was destroyed. Also, it's worth noting that Noire crit rate is 50-60%, while Neptune's is 100%. So.. I'd say Neptune is still more broken IMO, at least for hard fights, since her crit rates are higher and she's more balanced INT-STR.

She's absolutely godly in a 4D level 1 run though. Fireball + NMG to get past Inquisitor, get her Osprey Dagger, grind to level 16 at Kirlsa Training Facility to become immune to damage for a while, and then Ice Needles to beat the Dragon Knights before Bequerel Mine. She does fall off hard when Maria lands, but she still carries 80% of Disc 1.

I've honestly never used Adray, as I always pick him up in Disc 2, by which point Sophia is a good enough spell caster (read: has healing, buffs, and thunder flare), and he can't compare to the dps of Cliff/Maria.

I used merchant to grind all my characters to max level in that ghost tower. Infinite phoenix downs and you make more money than you spend after each fight as long as you fight more than one enemy.
