Should Final Fantasy just stick to MMOs after FF13 and FF15?

All of these bombs and delays seem to be directly related to simply giving Nomura too much shit all at once, or Nomura is simply trying to do too much on his own.

Let's not. When Nomura started working on Versus 13 at the start he was working on a singular project, and the only reason why it got it's first delay is because he wanted to remake everything to port it onto the PS4. This isn't a guess, it was stated. Nomura is no different than Kojima in that they have lots of vision but no idea how to manage budget, time and other things if given too much control over a project. This has become a sort of trend with any big name in the gaming industry now. They get too much trust put in them and I guess believe their untouchable so they keep delaying stuff or going past budget until something big happens to replace them.

That's cool and all, but I'm still talking about what happens when they're left with too much control over BIG AAA games. Kojima kept delaying stuff and went over budget with not much to show for it, Nomura delayed his game for way longer but did the same. The point is that they're alright devs, but they need to be supervised by someone who can just tell them "No" at times, instead of giving them so much control over things. In don't count his shit spin-offs either because they're just that, easy spin-offs to make quick money.

XIII was decent once you waited long enough to get the entire trilogy, evening it out into around 120-160 hours with two separate post-games like a game made to succeed FFXII should have been

1. The only bomb had to do with FF14 1.0 and how much it was a disaster

2. Nomura was the one who refused to make FFvs13 into FF15 for 5 years.

3. Toriyama and Kitase asked people if they wanted XIII-2 (and therefore LR: FF XIII). Majority said yes, minority said no. That's why the subseries exists dude.

So in other words, your argument doesn't work at all.

FF12 didn't do well enough. It was an incomplete offline MMO which had to be overhauled combat and gameplay wise by Japanese developers in the IZJS. They cancelled FF12 Fortress, disowned any connection to FF12 in Revanent Wings and it took them three times to get what SHOULD have been FF12 over here
