No. The original N64 controller and it's shitty analog stick were so fucking atrocious they made ANY game that you played on it into fucking garbage.
>>

To you underages maybe, it felt great for it's games.

The DS' analog controls felt like shit in comparison.

Obvious shill and it won't even work for dpad+joystick games. Not to mention at 20 there is zero chance of this having any quality control.

What are you talking about? It's no different than the placement of any other d-pad. You just move your left thumb down.
It just looks odd, because the controller is a bit smaller than others.

Oops, accidentally posted a picture of the underside of an N64 joystick.
Reminder to clean that shit and grease it up every few years and your sticks won't deteriorate.
>>
If it's good for smashfags then it will easily get funded. Isn't the original N64 analog stick really shitty and breaks all the time?
>>

>>
The only problem the N64 controller has is crappy placement of the d-pad and L shoulder but for how often any games actually ask you to push those buttons it doesn't matter.
It looks like a shitty controller if you've never played games on it but it practice it works just fine.
>>
>>386670837

>>
>>386671206
This. No way it ends up being good at that price point.
>>
>>386671334

Honestly, if you had trouble using the N64 controller, you probably have some sort of disease like cerebral palsy, or Parkinson's. You should probably get an MRI or something.
>>
>>386671682
Most people just take out their N64 controllers they've used for 20 years, try to play SM64 for the first time in 10 years and come to the conclusion that the controllers were all just shit.
They will turn loose after years of playing, which sucks, but maintenance is really easy. You just need a screwdriver, some paper and some form of mechanical grease that will work on plastic.
>>
This couldn't be more blatant kickstarter shilling
>>386671848
>>386670837
>>
>>386670837
This'll be shit. N64's thumb stick is literally one of the most accurate ever made (as anybody stupid enough to transport Gamecube's stick onto an N64 controller has found out) and there's no doubt this will use one of those garbage modern sticks.

The only real issue with N64's controller is that the thumb stick has very poor durability if you don't look after it. People that think that the stick is shit are people with broken sticks who didn't look after it.
>>
>>386671810
The weirdly placed D-pad was just a way to keep a classic layout, in case the analog controls wouldn't be suited for some games. There were no real standard for stick placement back then.
It's easy to look back on it and call it retarded, but back then it made sense.
>>
>>386671979
Yeah but nobody likes it.
>>
>>386671992
Can confirm. I bought two separate sticks to replace the ones on two older controllers. One with an original N64 stick and the other with a GC-esque stick.
I've found that the GC stick is actually less accurate around the edges. That is, when running full speed in SM64 and turning and stuff. Whereas the original N64 stick is perfect. It's kind of weird, because you'd think the GC one would be more accurate and sensitive, but no.
>>
>>386670837
>$20 for early access
Even for early access that's sus as fuck. Shit us probably going to feel extremely cheap
>>
>>386671992
There was a guy selling metal sticks replacements to overcome the durability problem but I dont know if they work as well as the originals.
>>
>>386672237
>It's kind of weird, because you'd think the GC one would be more accurate and sensitive, but no.
It's not weird if you know the underlying technology. N64's stick uses digital optical encoding disks while Gamecube's stick (and other modern sticks) use noisy analog potentiometers.

The N64 stick is shit meme comes purely from its durability issues, not because the stick is garbage technology (it's actually very good technology for the time). Grease up the stick's base, don't play Mario Party 1 or competitive Smash, and it'll last forever.
>>
>>386672185
Very professional marketing buddy, hope your shit kickstarter fails
>>
i liked the n64 joystick.
you are aware that every replacement stick or third party joystick will not work as good as the orginal? its much more sensitive
>>
>>386672237
The GC stick is coated in rubber where the N64 stick was straight plastic. This made the GC stick thicker when it was already thick to begin with, therefore the N64 stick allows for more precision and accuracy.
>>
>kickstarter

>circular gate for the analog stick

>>
>>386670837

>>
>>386673142
Like no one is actually going to actually spend around 200+ to have 4 controllers for smash 64 to play this with their casual friends. Just having a dual shock 4 or a cheap xbone controller and a decent pc is literally all anyone needs to play n64 games optimally anymore

>>
>>386673319
Can you do two player on pc, let alone 4, though? Otherwise, I agree.
>>
>>386673526
Controller is really comfortable to hold. The position of Z is really nice as well. Wish more controllers had an extra button on the underside, rather than on the edges. It's just more comfortable.
Just because the standard grip is asymmetrical doesn't mean it's not comfortable. Maybe if you're left handed.
>>
>another n64 pad is bad meme thread
Waiting for le three hands meme
>>
>>386673526
I played Goldeneye with my 10 yold cousin and he didn't have trouble with it.
You're full of shit.
>>
>>386673526
The controller has the following flaws: The stick degradates quickly and if the game uses the stick then the dpad and L buttons are far away from your fingers (in this case you are meant to grab it by the middle handle, if the game uses the dpad you grab it by the left one). Other than that it is good.
>>
>>386673082
Which that can be pretty easily fixed if you have a ounce of technical know how. Just replace the whole stick assembly.
>>
>>386673703
>wtf how are you even supposed to hold this thing??
Every time.
>>
>>386671282
It's not like you'll ever use the dpad anyway.
>>
>>386673681
Yeah you totally can
>>
>>386673695
>Maybe if you're left handed.

Leftie here. No problem at all.
>>
>>386672605
I'm genuinely going to look into the liability requirements and then get started.

I'm pretty sure kickstarter also has an option to get the money if the project is not fully funded, I took a blender class around 5 years ago so I can make shitty 3D models and add smoothing to make them look pretty nice, and I used to make flash animations with some video editing so I think I can make a convincing enough video.

All I need is the completely too good to be true but totally true idea that changes us and connects us together in this brave new world.

Suggestions would be appreciated.
>>
>>386673759
One thing I kind of liked about the placement of L was that in Smash Bros, if you wanted to throw out a quick taunt, you'd let go of your right hand and quickly smack the L button with the tip of your fingers.
It kind of added to the experience and became an extra disrespectful thing me and my friends did. But, it's obviously not very good control layouts in hindsight.
>>
Someone call me when they make an fps based controller with d pad on the left and a stick on the right
>>
>>386670837
>This will finally fix that original n64 piece of shit controller that never felt right!
If I were a MOD, I would unironically PERMABAN you, you subhuman little Gamecube fagglet son of a single mother whore bastard.
>>
>>386671635
When I was a kid I actually replaced the N64 controller's analog stick with a dualshock's one. It didn't even require soldering because everything was mechanical, but I had to use a lot of super glue. And it actually worked.
>>
>>386673946
>it's obviously not very good control layouts in hindsight.
If you hold the controller from the D-Pad side it has just as many reachable buttons as the Saturn controller.
>>
>>386673526
>underagefag whose never used one makes dumb assumptions with his tiny brain
Now I see where the hate for the N64 controller comes from.
>>
>>386674143
Yeah, it is not as good of a design as the cookie cutter design that is used 100% of the time in modern consoles but it was a great first attempt at adding a stick to a controller with lots of buttons.
>>
>>386672428
>don't play mario party 1
>implying I could ever not play pedal power if I even looked at the cart
>>
>>386674143
Well, that's true but it's still wasted potential. If you have these buttons, you should be able to reach them all. I know why they did what they did and at the time it seemed like the smartest idea, but looking back on it, it probably should have had the stick where the d-pad is, the Z button on the bottom of the left handle and the d-pad down and right of the stick.

It's not that fucking complex. I can't think of a single game that doesn't solely control with either the analog or the d-pad exclusively. The controllers designed so that if you're playing a d-pad game like Kirby 64 you grab the far left grip and every other game you grab the middle to use the analog.

>The N64 controller pales in comparison to the original dualshock. No wonder the playstion shit all over the n64.

The original PS controller had neither analog nor rumble
It was basically a SNES controller with added L2 R2 buttons

The dualshock was released 3 years after the playstation

and i set the turbo buttons to auto on the joystick
>>
>>386677015
I, too, remember how much I enjoyed everything controlling like ass compared to the N64

The funny thing is that they actually kept the design, kek
>>
If I could get it in a format that would work on PS4/PC, I would do it.
>>
OP, please kill yourself. I don't care how you do it, just fucking do it.
>>
>We wanted to keep the cost down as much as possible, yet not skimp on quality, we are essentially passing on the savings to our backers to get this product made. We are selling these versions at $20 each.
>$20 each
Wew lad that's a hard pass. at that price point it'll likely be made out of mcdonald straw tier plastics
>>
There were few games that needed the analog and d-pad to be accessible at the same time and the ones that did would not work with this controller. Not being able to use the analog stick in the right hand means you will not be able to play Goldeneye with the optimal control option. The only thing that needs to be done to improve the N64 controller is to add a more durable analog stick.
>>
>>386671334
The stick was great to actually use, though. What sucked about the stick was how quickly it wore down and lost all tension, likely due to Mario Party.
>>
>>386679127
Isn't that the point?
To pocket $13000+?

If we let hungry kikestarter faggots like you here this site turns into a cesspool of ads and shilling
>>
I wish it had reprogrammable buttons and a second analog. That way even if the games have shitty button swap option you can change it around to make the camera decent and other nice button switches
>>
>>386679346
How can they even justify needing 13k? I assume they are getting the electronic components from somewhere and assembling it, maybe getting the plastic parts 3D printed, so they need to cover those costs for their initial stock before they can begin to sell, but those costs will be recouped from sales. The 13k will basically be free money for them.
>>
we should just raise the bar of entry to anyone born before 1995 to avoid these kids who never player with a N64 controller. And I'm being generious. 1990 is the actual year I'd implement
>>
>>386679210
>Analog with right hand
That's wrong, retard
>>
>>386673526
>Controller designed so that you can use the stick or the dpad
>Both grips are pretty comfortable
>"Downside" of not being able to use dpad and stick at the same time literally never comes into play because games are either in 2D or 3D
No, you're right, it's nostalgia. Not that Nintendo wanted a controller that could also fall back to being perfectly functional in 2D.
>>
>>386671345
because the analog stick wears down quickly
>>
>>386670837
Very good design and I would buy it in a heartbeat. But as we all know, the hardware and materials are going to be shit, if the big three produces garbage controllers with no quality, what makes you think some guy with $13k is going to make?
>>
>>386670837
>Only 13k

Yeah that's reasonable
But I'm not spending money until I know it's good

If the plastics shit or the deadlines are huge, there no point

I've FUCKING lost my 3 n64 pads I'm absolutely cut they had the last remaining replacement joysticks from the official Nintendo repairs warehouse

Someone start a Kickstarter for an adapter that will allow me to use a Gamecube Controller on a N64, and then we'll talk about money.

>I have a hard time believing that this piece of shit feels even remotely comfortable

How fucking young are you
>>
>>386677463
This was the best controller experience on my C64, because it only needed 1 button.

But all the N64 controller needs is a more durable and comfortable joystick. Fucking three hands meme, man.

I always thought it was weird that controllers have 4 buttons on the right, instead of 6 buttons like later Genesis controller, and N64 controller.

That looks like garbage

But the controller is so compact that it doesn't matter. It's still as accessible as a typical d-pad placement on most controllers.

Nice try. Everyone who uses it, and that's a lot of people, say it's damn superior to the first one and not one complains about the d-pad.

This.
Nintendo should have released an updated model 2 controller. I bet if they did nintendo fans would all agree the original was shit instead of defend it.
