Every single fight in Witcher 3 pretty much played out the same way and the AI is dumb as rocks. They're not even programmed to avoid fire patches on the ground. They won't attack you if you're not close to them, even though they can obviously see you. The combat is so stiff you can't even climb a ledge while in combat.

Ive played through all 3 witchers at least twice.

I got to hattori village in BoTW and ive not picked it back up.

I really want to like BoTW but there is fuck all there, just a giant grass land and bokoblins. sure witcher is just drowners, ghouls, and nekkers but it felt like between those fights i go through some village and pick up a contract or have a fist fight. Im sure BoTW gets better but if it isnt there for a good portion of the beginning then its hard to push through.

BotW is played by exploring the landscape from top to bottom, every single inch of it. If you try to play Witcher 3 like that you will not have fun. Amazing quests and cities, but the outside world is a copy-paste fest where every field, forest and cave looks the same. Though I will give them credits for actually putting stuff to find underwater, which most open games doesnt do.

Beautiful world(if you ignore poor WiiU/Switch graphics of course) with forest, deserts, snowing mountains, etc which that can be interacted with like cutting wood, burning grass, climbing, etc.
World felt alive, with random NPCs doing their stuff everywhere which made for some interesting encounters.
Not that many interesting sidequests though, and main plot is pretty much nonexistent. Barely any secrets to find considering the size of the world, only shrines and collectables.
And worst part is you spend at least 70% of your time climbing mountains or failing to do so because of the daily rain.

Witcher 3 would honestly have been a better game if it removed all the generic copy-pasted POIs and kept the world the same size just for a feeling of scale. Quests were okay, usually great when connected to MQ and a bit too formulaic otherwise. Good game overall.

Because Zelda has never been a story heavy franchise, it's a puzzle heavy franchise. And guess what BotW has a shitload of puzzles and a nearly absent narrative. Why don't you complain about the lack of dungeons in Witcher? Honestly I'd say that a gameplay driven experience requires more maturity to be engaged in than a narrative bases one

Honestly, I could never really get into TW3, despite the overall quality of the game. I found the combat to be a chore to get through, and just didn't find the gameplay all that enjoyable, even though it has great storytelling and quests. While BOTW may not be as well written, it makes up for it with much more enjoyable gameplay and combat.

Nearly everyone declaring it the apex of gaming and constantly crapping on other games, not just BOTW, to elevate it in their minds as the greatest game of all time certaintly doesn't make it any easier to like it.
