What is the oldest game you still keep coming back to?
stick rpg
>>386653062
Despite the decades of games the oldest would be Silent Hunter 3
I do a full playthrough every couple years.
>>386653062
Just daggerfall.
>>386653062
Mordor depths of dejenol
>tfw still no modern SimFarm remake
>tfw still no SimFarm modding scene
Super Ghoul and Ghosts must be the oldest one
GTA 5
>>386653062
my friend does impossible creatures or zoo tycoon every 1-2 years or so
i keep going back to gba medabots and some castlevania games
>>386653062
I cought that game as a kid because I liked sim city
I had no idea what the fuck was going on
>>386653062
Made me nostalgia hard OP
Theme Hospital for me
RA2. Game was given to me by my uncle a long time ago.
GZDoom withSmoothDoom
>>386653062
Doom
worms Armageddon, tony hawk 3, micro machines for drinking multiplayer tho
>>386653371
Nice, never played mordor but I still play demise, although unfortunately I haven't been able to get it to work since I reinstalled windows.
Never met anyone who even heard of these games before.
>>386653062
Best Sim game ever made. It taught me that no matter how hard I want to grow rice in the middle of the Arizona desert, some things were just not meant to be. A life changing experience that was.
>>386653859
it gets worse the more you look at it
Dungeon Keeper. About once a year I'll get it running and try to finish it.
I can't get away
>>386653892
>>386653859
top tier taste
>>386654094
my nigga. have you tried the ancient keeper custom campaign?
>>386653062
I think one of the original Crash Bandicoot games. Mostly CTR or Warped.
Also, Spyro the Dragon, just for the soundtrack.
>>386654320
>ancient keeper
No, but I now intend to. Always good to breathe a bit of fresh air into things.
>>386654010
i played demise a lot too, recently i buyed Ascension, an updated version of demise
Freelancer
orSLASH'EMjust to remind myself that i truly suck at sokoban.
>>386654437
it's brutally hard but incredibly rewarding if you can beat it. most maps require thinking outside the box to finish them.
joseph anderson talks about it in his video about dungeon keeper.
The original Colonization.
>>386654721
I have freelancer installled but i keep getting a "cant detect graphic device" problem :(
I put it off for months and idk what to do
I think it's tarzan or I guess W4M.
Anyone up to for some Worms Ultimate MP rounds?
>>386654514
>Ascension
Yeah, I remember he was working on this recently, I used to check up on it occasionally but the last time I did was probably 2012 or so, maybe it's time for another look.
>>386654721
Fuck yeah, this game is amazing. Don't play the Crossfire mod for the extended campaign, If you like spending hours traveling from one system to another with enemies that will one shot you.
Vanilla game will always be amazing
>>386653062
Claw, Worms Armageddon, and Jak and Daxter 1
>>386653859
isn't there a version of this pic with nicknames? if not there should be
I probably play through this once a year, and have done since its release.
Anstoss 2 Gold
>>386654804
I swear to god, my cousin and I played the FUCK out of this game in the late 1990s (as well as Age of Empires), and I still can't get enough of it. I don't know why, but I couldn't get into Civilization as much as Colonization.
Kirbys dreamland
>>386654835
Try playing with a mod like Discovery FL or the grafics only mod that's been spread around here
AoE2
>growing sorghum
Never failed me. I never had a problem growing them, never had to fertilize them or spray them with anything. Even the other high resistance crops occasionally had problems.
>>386653062
Doom with mods
Where my Silent Storm niggas at?
Xcom UFO defense.
Or more specifically, OpenXcom. Mostly with mods.
There's just such a tense atmosphere that the new games fail to capture. Taking a grenade off of your character's belt, priming it, then throwing it is a much more involved and immersive experience than just having a "grenade" button with a visible arc and explosion radius. You have to think about your environment and pay attention rather than just move to where your character has a shield icon so they have cover. You have a lot more troops because they are all expendable; there are no heroes in war.
AoE1/2, Freelancer, Stalker games, M&BW
>>386653062
I don't care if it's nostalgia. Castle of the Winds will always be my favorite roguelike. I remember having to look it up with an AOL keyword, norse by norsewest. Didn't know the real name until years later.
>>386653378
Wake me up when we get SimAnt2. Or hell. Any games where you just play as a normal animal. Shelter's one of the few I can think of.
Master of Magic, probably.
So many clones, yet the original is still unsurpassed.
I still boot up RCT and RCT2 every now and then. It's still satisfying making fuck huge coasters nobody ever rides. And then having to carry them with the thrill rides.
>>386653062
Populous the beginning
The best Star Wars strategy game.
DooM
>>386655710
But Doom doesn't need any mods.
>>386653172
>>386653172
fuck you now I'm playin this shit now.
>>386654804
Are you me?
Why were 90s PC games so good lads?
>>386655714
Fuck, maybe it's time to install it again. I didn't find the recent X-COM games be even half as satisfying.
Did it ever get any interesting mods or overhauls?
>>386653062
Tetris and Ultima 3
>>386653062
sheepy sheepy sheepy
>>386656994
Every single one was a labor of love.
>>386656994
You grew up with them
>>386653062
i could never figure out how to make a profit farming, the only thing I could do and survive was have a huge cloud of a fuckton of horses
both as a 10 year old and a 30 year old
>>386656994
Time is a good filter. There was a lot of rubbish too.
>games only you have played
>>386653062
to be honest just tie fighter and doom. it's pretty much all i play these days aside from a few indies i download and play a few hours before uninstalling.
>>386657450
I played the mega cd port
Anything 5th gen and back for pokemon. I usually have multiple games going at any point. I can pick up whatever, play it for a while and be good
>>386657772
Hexen 2
>>386653062
Asteroids
Galaga
Any time I see a Galaga machine somewhere, I will get quarters and play.
And many other shmups that are released from around this time (1989)
Zulu Assault. Kind of hard to find
E:ROTMK
>>386658857
Me too on this one
I also play the original Donkey Kong at a local pizza restaurant once a week or so
isometric shooter with campy live action cutscenes and infamous controls, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I replay both every few years.
>>386656994
Games were goodwhen /v/ didn't exist
>>386660517
I replay both of them every 6 months
>>386653247
Excellent taste.
I was afraid of replaying this because I was worried that it might have been just me as a kid not knowing any better.
>>386653062
>games only you played
>>386653062
AoE2 and RCT
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
bought on release, has been installed on every single PC i owned in my life
even after so many years i spend six or seven hours in a row on it sometimes
>>386653062
Unreal World
And Tetris, always Tetris
>>386653062
Asteroids, it hasn't aged a day:^)
Besides stupid shit I play in my browser though I still play a lot of old nes /snes stuff but that's newfag as shit in the grand scheme of things. I just can never get behind the graphics of older consoles or control schemes of older PC games. The modern age has spoiled me terribly and I am the cancer killing video games, I know.
WoW (vanilla)
>>386653062
I'm replaying Doom and Doom once every year. And that's not counting wads
>>386664807
You just need to pick a game that particularly bugs you while being revered by others, then force yourself to play it. Once you get used to it, it'll make things easier.
Super Mario Bros 3
angband, but I mostly play poschengband
>>386662335
neato. More games need spider bombs
>>386653062
i guess tetris
Actually Pharaoh, but I don't have a pic of it handy.
>>386653062
>Frontier: Elite II
>Cannon Fodder
>Sensible World of Soccer
>>386653062
Total Annihilation. It just feels good.
Geneforge. It's one of my favorite games but NO ONE HAS FUCKING PLAYED IT EXCEPT ME I fucking love RPGs and turn based strategies so turn based RPGs are the good shit.
Settlers II
>>386668286
Oh, of course! I forgot that one. Super comfy
Minecraft
>>386668143
I enjoyed the Avernum and Avadon games. Is this similar?
>>386653859
holy fuck top left looks like a fucking SCP
>>386668143
I own Geneforge I through V but haven't played any of them.
I started one up once but couldn't quite get into it, maybe one day I will
>>386656556
WOW i almost forgot about this!
thank you anon!
>>386668641
It's very much like Avernum, except you control one dude who can summon other dudes.
Story isn't as good, but it's fun.
Do you remember the sound at each battle start, /v/?
>>386653859
>Mama Mia
>All these old as fuck games
>Earliest I go back to is 2006
Shit
>>386668962
> dum dum dum dum dum DUDUDUDUM
>>386668641
They're all made by the same same studio so yeah. I'd say Geneforge is what they're known for so you should be able to enjoy it.
>>386668746
Old rpgs are usually the most hit or miss out of all old games imo. You probably shouldn't feel bad about not getting into it.
>>386656226
my fucking man, I came hear just to post that. How come part 2 is so damn hard? I leveled up till level 8 in Part 1, killed Hrungnir and imported my save into part 2, but I keep getting my god damn ass kicked on floor 2.
>Doom, Thief, Deus Ex, DRIVER, Ace Combat, Dark Souls
these i replay on yearly bases.
>>386668143
>having anything other than Fyoras and Cryoas in your party
What is this heresy.
The LucasArts adventures, but that's almost cheating considering how well those games aged.
>>386669628
The Dig is boring as fuck though. Just a bunch of almost-copypasted locations then the game is over
WoW
>>386653062
Final Fantasy Tactics. I also replayed Xenogears not too long ago. I used to go back to Chrono Trigger, but it seems really simple now. Mechanically, there's not much going on for me to chew after all these years.
