In GW2, "critical successes" in crafting just give you a bonus to your skill improvement and exp from that crafted item.

Like if you'd get 2% exp and 10% skill exp from making an item component, a crit success would give you 3% exp and 15% skill exp or something.
Not exact numbers, but it was something like that.
