Is expeditions viking any better than conquistador? After leaving Hispaniola I loved the plot and combat but disliked a lot of the repetition in camping.

Probably meant Warband.
And Warband was shit early on, arrows never missed, including on horse archers, and all combat degraded down to chasing 2 horsemen with your infantry. It also had the good old HoMM issue of the AI moving according to where you move, even if they are kilometers away and shouldn't see and know.
