I would recommend you to avoid listening the music and play it first.
It will be boring at the start because the first part is too slow thanks to the tutorial towers.

This.
I used to be against these kind of endings but over the years I've come to really like them. It has such a sense of finality and closure to it. You can sit there at the ending screen, watching it play and listening to that music for as long as you like while you reflect on the game and think about everything you experienced with it. Then, when you're finished thinking about it, you turn off the game yourself. You arent just jetisoned back to the title or anything. The game is done. The story is complete. It's time for something else. It is required that you be the one who closes the curtains. But only when you're done reflecting on it.
To me it's just way more personal than having the game automatically 'end' itself for you by looping to the title. It's like getting to the end of a book, and after finishing it you just hold it in your hands and think about t for a while before actually putting it down.
It's late, and I'm sleep and sentimental.
I fucking love Paper Mario. One of my favorite games.
>>386624140
I don't why /v/ has so many people who didn't enjoy Luigi's Mansion 2.The tutorial disguised as the 1st mission sucked and the bosses were lack luster, I'll give you that.It had no portrait ghosts, I get that but I always assumed people liked those as bosses because they generally had some puzzle in the environment you had to figure out to fight them. Dark Moon had a lot of good environmental puzzles but most of them were optional gem puzzles.
The story was told through a mission structure where after you finished a subgoal, you'd watch a cutscene in which Luigi goes back to the lab. The first game was broken down like that as well just that each "mission" contained a few portrait ghosts and a boss ghost so I guess people didn't like how it broke up the pacing but it wasn't bad or even that different.
>>386630198
You put my feelings into words, anon, thanks for that. Couldn't explain why I enjoy these types of endings so much.
>>386630241
I like the first but not the second.
2's puzzles mostly seemed a lot better from what I played, but the game overall seemed a lot more linear. In 1 there were only 4 'missions' but after the short first one you had a lot of freedom to explore. It was actually quite an open game. The second is very restricted even if it has optional stuff on the side.
Also 2 had a fucking ton of really annoying cutscenes. They almost never lasted too long but they kept popping up and interrupting the flow of things to show me the generic enemies fucking around.
Maybe this last point will sound weird but I thought the atmosphere was a lot weaker in the second game. The first had a really nice balance of cartoony and creepy. It was visually dark with ambient lighting and some stuff that was actually kind of, but not too, creepy. Things like the noises the fat ghost made, the skeletons stuffed in chests, that fucking toad scream at the beginning of the game and the blackout hit a really good level of unnerving for a children's horror game, which is a genre that practically doesn't exist. 2 just felt like a generic kid's game as far as atmosphere was concerned. It wasn't bad at doing that kind of atmosphere, but it didnt really feel unique.
Not trying to shit on the game or anything just explaining why I liked the first and not the second. Admittely I stopped playing 2 after like three mansions so maybe there's better stuff I never saw. But the games are definitely quite different from each other.
>>386630918
I can see why 2 felt lack luster in terms of atmosphere. The lighting had to be brighter because it's on a handheld and I doubt they wanted to risk kids complaining about not being able to see anything on screen. Another point you didn't bring up was that in 2 there is constant background music. Where the first one had ambient noise in unexplored/dark rooms with luigi occasionally humming, 2 never really has any quiet momentsI think I just enjoyed 2 because I liked hunting for gems and I really liked the visual designs and settings of the mansions, except for the sandy, clockworks factory
>>386630198
I think the reason I don't enjoy these endings is because I'm hoping there's going to be more to it, like an epilogue or the game returning to the title screen and telling me about new features I've unlocked. So when I get an ending that forces you to reset the game, it's not the fact that I have to reset it, it's that I had expectations and it left me disappointed

Dark moon was an alright game by its own merits, but going into it expecting a follow up to the original brings it down a lot in my opinion.
While the first game had a puzzle focus, it was still fun to actually use the poltergust on the ghosts, but the 3ds's single joystick meant they had to completely revamp and simplify the combat. Waiting to press A while the ghost just kind of flails around doesn't have the satisfaction of getting the right angles on the joysticks and watching and listening to their health tick down super fast.
While they did make up for the unfun combat by having a larger focus on puzzles, the game loses a lot of replayability, especially when you have to skip through all the unnecessary dialogue and cutscenes.
The atmosphere also felt lackluster like >>386630918 mentioned.
I can see why people like the game or even prefer it over the first if they were in it for puzzles, but for me it missed a lot of what I personally liked about the first game.

Any sufficiently long and good game will give you a great feeling to see the credits finally roll, but La-Mulana felt like an accomplishment when I finally got through it no guide. Even if it was a simple fanfare, it was satisfying.
