I never want to open the game because I always spend more time in town than in dungeons because my low game knowledge means I take forever getting everything set up, and I'm not far enough in the game to have my squads already set up. I know I need to git gud but I'm a brainlet

My one major complaint about the DLC though is how easy it is to get the crimson curse. At one point the majority of my roster had it because i'd run into one or two groups of mosquitos in a dungeon and they'd attack first and disease all my guys before dying.

Just slap random squads together out of fresh meat from the stagecoach and see how far they can go. You'll learn as you go along

These guys defied the odds and made it through 8 dungeons in a row together without a single break in town, they surprised the hell out of me. They became true heroes even if they were a diseased and neurotic bunch towards the end

Might as well. I'm just over 300 and it adds a little more to think about. Modding is also getting pretty good with the amount of them that are compatible with one another. They're communicating and collaborating pretty well all things considered.

yeah, sure, he can do a ton of damage, but he can't guard anyone, heal/stress heal anyone but himself, can't hit position 3/4 when the combat is about destroying the backline and disabling the frontline afterward so your team can use recovery skills, and he will end up doing nothing on a bad shuffle because he has no movement skills

I beat Bloodmoon just fine using him as a buff/Inspire bot. I think Ballad and Inspire are too useful not to use, so by taking Solo and Finale you miss out on the clutch hits you sometimes need.
If you take out Solo and keep the hit, you need to move into position 1 in order to use Finale, which makes it a 190% damage move for two turns. At that point you might as well be using any other regular hitter, especially considering something like BH doesn't require 3 turns of prep time to kill a backliner (who should already be dead by turn 4). Plus there's always the issue of party shuffle, limiting your choices available for position 2.

I'm not saying it's a bad strategy, but I don't feel like it's very turn-effective and it doesn't mesh well with a more effective style of play.
