Oh boy, another card game. Not like there aren't already dozens out there. No, VALVE'S card game will be revolutionary. Maybe...you can CUSTOMIZE your card with special animations and borders! Ahahahah....I'm already rolling in laughter! My sides are ovulating now....Ahehehe....yeah! I'm REALLY REALLY looking forward to this game.! Valve is the best game company out there! This. Valve is dying and Dota2 is hemorrhaging money from them.
>tfw you steam was a scam from the beginning and lived long enough to see valve die

>>
Eh, since Valve has money spilling out of their eyeballs, they could probably make the entire core gameplay free like they do with Dota 2. Or make it an LCG where you just buy expansions and get all of the cards for them without a need to open boosters or lootcrates.
I don't imagine they will, but if they do, they could at least carve out a niche in the genre if their entire model was based on being consumer friendly.
Shit on the cosmetics in tf2 and Dota 2, but the core gameplay doesn't change based on their existence. it's the least invasive way to do things.

When you actually start playing, you get drowned in scraps and kegs.

I've played Gwent for around 150 hours in total, have five different decks I consider complete and almost in Grandmaster rank with zero money wasted. Crafting a legendary card takes around one week.

Meanwhile I must have played Cancerstone for over 1000 hours and still haven't got to build a single deck I could compete with and have gathered enough powder for only one legendary while the game has been designed for P2W all around (no limited legendaries, dailies require you to own certain cards and so on).

Also, at the end of season Gwent will give me 18 free kegs even when I already own about 80% of all the cards.

I just precisely elaborated how much progress I've made in 150 hours for free, how many cards I own, how long it takes to craft a legendary card and how the amount of legendaries in decks are moderated, what rank I've reached without paying any money, yet you simply state "not true" with broken grammar.

That's not how things work around here, pal.

You can't even write man let alone play, so that would explain why you would make such poor progress in 30 hours. They rewarded you for your level and rank, more for the latter. Though admittedly, it could have been 20 hours at max.

You are literally rewarded by the official daily mechanic till 66 rounds: that's 33 matches. Just how many matches do you grind per day if that's not enough? That combined with all the other rewards the game gives you.

THE LAST TIME VALVE MADE A NEW FUCKING IDEA OR AT-LEAST A CLEVER SPIN ON A CURRENT IDEA WAS LEFT 4 DEAD AND THAT WAS 9 FUCKING YEARS AGO

where's half life, which hasn't gotten a conclusion since its cliffhanger ending 10 years ago?

Where's Portal, which has a million possibilities to go with since the concept is not limited to a single idea and hasn't been copied in other games?

Where's Left 4 Dead 3, with a creation tool or less campaign-based focus to encourage replays?

Where's fucking Alien Swarm the full game?

Yes. But it still prints money with its current microtransactions.
Even better than having to pay someone to do the job and maintain the thing.

I have waited 10 years for any sort of news. I have supported Valve since the wee ages of the "PC Master Race" joke. I spent cash on the TF2 cashshop and justified it. I said Valve's way of moderating games was fine. I even bought L4D2 even though I thought it was a ripoff.

I have given Valve nothing but support and goodwill for the majority of my PC gaming life. Where the fuck is Half-Life 3

This isn't some shit like Beyond Good and Evil 2 which was a sequel to a sort of profitable game, this is fucking Half-Life. It was sold to us a dozen and a half times. Basically everyone on Steam owns it. The game was massively successful. It was critically championed. Everyone wants to see it finished

All I want is for Valve to stop jerking us around and just say "it's cancelled: We don't make those kind of games anymore".

Orange Box was a turning point for Valve. Not just for how they handle their games, but the fact that they increased their fanbase 100x larger. Now those that started playing Valve games when they saw portal and tf2 wacky gmod videos in 2008 are now the core audience of Valve.

Half of those come from well known, well love IPs.
Prey arguably rode on the name if not the brand, and Arkane has positive rep.
TLoU is Naughty Dog and promises, and it had decent multiplayer to boot.

Horizon is maybe the only arguable exemple, and even that is very obviously rooted in MH with the lack of home console release.

But isn't that just further proof that single-player games sell? I mean, what about action games like Bayonetta 1 and 2, RPG's like Final Fantasy, the yearly Assassin's Creed and Watch_dogs like games, Sonic games which are almost always exclusively single-player, or even simulator games which are routinely successful?

You don't have to look far to see successful single player games.

Bayo debatably has good sales. Compare Vanquish, which was not monstrously profitable.

I mean you are not wrong, but none of these things generally lead to long term profit. Multiplayer can.

Having top of the line hardware won't solve all issues in regards to a game that runs on a very unoptimized engine. To this day Crysis still can give trouble such as stuttering and hiccups to even a 1080GTX if I played on highest max settings. It wasn't known for being the most stable game then and it certainty isn't now. Nevertheless it's still amazing what they pulled off back then.

That engine fucking lied to me. I thought PC Gaming was going to hit a new era with games looking better and interaction for the player would be a lot more indepth.

If you released a multiplayer game without a cashshop, and a multiplayer game with a cashshop, there is a strong chance the one with said shop would make more money because it exploits people who make regular purchases.

You're right in that multiplayer games make more money because of this, but it's not like it's because it's a multiplayer game. It's because it uses a proven gambling tactic that casino's have profited from for years now. And that's kind of evil in my opinion.

My point is that if the games were made without the cash shop, both single and multiplayer games would tend to make similar amounts of dosh. Because the cash shop exists, dumbasses will spend exorbitant amounts of money on it.

why do you think Warner shoved a cash shop into Shadow of War, or why valve shoved one into Portal 2's limited multiplayer? Because they wanted to see how far players are willing to go. I know, that's kind of the point of my post. The reason why MP games are more profitable is because of that cash shop, and specifically because players have shown that they don't like paying for additional content (or more specifically, microtransactions) in single-player games.

If that style of shop ends up being successful in a SP game, it will spread and other companies will copy it.

VR is 100% the future of social gaming I.e. 3D chat rooms and whoever develops the first "killer app" for that is going to be the next Notch.

So stop giving them money. Have some self respect and self control.

It's not really a secret as much as it's knowing the right people.
>>
>>386630760
VR will never be the future of social gaming if it doesn't hit the mainstream. And as of right now it's way too fucking expensive for that.

Okay if Artifact isn't immediately released on mobile with steam store/trading integrated I'll eat my hat.

am I reading a post from 2015?
>>
>>386630840
Do you live under a rock? VR is already mainstream.
>>
>>386624973
i can't believe how much of a boner reading the lists at the bottom gave me, what the fuck
>>
>>386630845
Was that before or after Facebook bought oculus lol

VR (real VR, not the phone shit) has sold less than 10m units. GearVR is the only type that comes even remotely close to the real thing and that has sold, what, 8-10m?

That's not even close to mainstream.

while thats not a sure bet, thats kinda more risk then id wager on hat eating, senpai. your bet, not mine. the more i think about it, the more the money talks. techically, they would need a team per major device and bug/beta test, but in theory the money they could make says DO IT FAGGOT.

also, heres the dangerous idea. every steam user has cards, so every card gets given an arbitrary based on popularity based card. i play my freddi fish with high attack and def because few have it, and cod cards get fuck all because dime a dozen, and suddenly, the trade market for rare cards and popular cards fucking reverses and they tae a tax of 10% per card transaction
its fucking insane. they do this...

>the less popular the card, the more powerful its stats
>people scouring steam for the least popular games to get the most powerful cards
>each card transaction is worth money, and the most powerful could be hundreds of bucks
>over my ex-boyfriend the space tyrant and grimoire
>mad dash over ownership of these games
>LITERALLY EVERYONE ( else ) wins, we lose

if this is reality or a valve employee sees this, im so sorry

The reason VR flopped is because
1. It still needed wires
2. Headsets are too big or still big enough to be cumbersome
3. Need too much room space to be adopted by a majority of consumers
>>
FUCK VALVE
>>
>>386631908
4. Required high-end rig to run
5. Not enough VR-exclusive games that justified the purchase
6. Too fucking expensive.

>And if it makes them money it's an objectively good game.
No, if it makes them money it's an objectively good business, it doesn't say anything about the game.

See for example clash of clans / clash Royale: pure shit, worse type of cancer, yet it makes the company shitton of money.

it didnt flop, itll be what it is, a niche product for a niche user base. not that guy but thats always been my argument. its the fucking steering wheel of racing games. 99% are fine with not needing an ENTIRE set up, but itll never die because you can sell wheels to the people who want the "full experience". this isnt bad, or good, its just how it is. SOME people build an entire car set up in their garage to play gran turismo, or whatever, itll ALWAYS exist, but will it make a large portion of the market? never, more effort then "dude sitting on couch" wants to do.

the REAL market for virtual reality exists within the niche, and to them, itll be the shit worth spending a few grand on. to everyone else, a screen or two is good enough, or a phone. unless some fucking crazy tech comes out that means youve got a 4 grand pc in a contact lense and it costs 40 bucks comes out, its never going to really change, just slowly get better.

Are you stupid? Treasure boxes in Dota 2 can't give you dublicates either and they also contain a limited selection instead of everything in the game so you have even more control over what you want to get, too.

>Optimized

It's not amazingly optimized, it's just designed to run on a PS3, which is a piece of shit. It also doesn't look that great.
