People ignored the fact that he's a kid himself. Nier made me cry more then anything I've ever experienced in my life and to this day I still don't know why. I was so emotionally attached to that game even smaller characters like Fyra made me tear up. It became one of my favorites of all time purely on emotional value, and I don't think anything will get me as much as Nier did.
