Maybe it's just AM2R bias, but I really dislike the 3D graphics style with its zoomed out field-of-view. The perspective from a 2D viewpoint is uncomfortable to focus on.

I just don't get the sheer and intense shitposting surrounding this game. Is it to drum up more hate like with Other M? You fags cannot catch lightning in a bottle, it won't happen again.

It doesn't seem the greatest but at the same time it's a remake of an exceptionally old and fairly dated Gameboy Classic game. It seems to have solid gameplay, a focus on exploration (moreso than the original Metroid II did) and a lot more to see and do than the original as well.

Let me go ahead and my concerns that we've seen with the game so far. The first major red flag is that the game appears to be balanced around a cinematic melee counter that acts as a way to strip control from the player in order to shove cinematics down the player's throat rather than giving them full control over Samus which has been the case in past Metroid games.

Next up are the Aeon abilities, the Scan Pulse in particular is a powerup that will reveal rooms, secrets and areas that you haven't even visited with the push of a button. If the game is designed around this feature then it removes one of the biggest assets of the series which is exploration and meticulous attention from players. One of the best things about games like Super Metroid is that a curious and attentive player is always rewarded for using newly acquired abilities in locations he hasn't been with said abilities.

Lastly we have the amiibo garbage, it is your right as a consumer to buy all the amiibos that you want but it is also my right to call it out as a cancerous practice that is ruining the industry. When there is on cart content that is only unlocked via a limited edition physical piece of DLC that is trash and severely hinders the game.

So far the game is shaping up to be cinematic trash like Bayonetta or Uncharted with the cancerous practices of the industry sprinkled on top.
