The matchmaking in Splatfest doesn't match you with people of your same level like the regular Turf Wars matchmaking. It matches you based on the power stat that replaces freshness during the event and that only goes up if you win and goes down if you lose. Mirror matches are not a disadvantage. All of these stages are too damn small and comapct and im tired of getting fucking ambushed by fucking sloshers and blasters and you cant do shit about it but die becasue there is no where to fucking run or maneuver too except but to jump back to the spawn point.

I hit my ceiling, I hate how Splatfest power level is dictated by your level and not ranked grades in 2. I could at least derank back to B if I ever managed to make it to A rank and go back to playing against players of my skill level and having fun, but for spaltfest I was just getting my teeth kicked in and I couldn't throw matches because it would hurt the team overall.

They should add more ways of scoring points, but complaining that what was more popular vote-wise didn't win is stupid. It's called splatfest. If we're putting that much stake into votes, you might as well get rid of splatfest and only hold polls.

The real issue with the vote disparity is that it leaves a lot of people on the more popular side fighting each other. While that doesn't have an effect on the stats, it is kind of a waste of time in terms of the event. Unfortunately I don't think there's really any way of fixing that other than picking more evenly matched subjects.
