The town feels so alive, and I love how everyone has a daily routine according to what day/night it is.

Deadly Premonition is what I was hoping Alan Wake was going to be back when Alan Wake was originally made for PC and was showing off an interesting open world mystery thing. It's a failure in many respects, but it had ambition and I enjoyed what it did accomplish.

I would be fine with a Steven King inspired plot. Lynch is better than him for sure but you can make something out of that style too. The problem is the game itself was short segments where you walk around a highly enclosed story area for 5 minutes and talk to one person in that scene before going out into generic shooter gameplay for another couple hours. The original concept showed you driving around the town exploring it and the characters more freely and when it got dark everything would get crazy like the shooter segments.

its optomized to shit and buggy as fuck, the combat was tacked on by executive meddling because they didn't think the story and investigating aspects would sell, so those all suck. However, the characterization,mood, and atmosphere are all top notch. The game is truly deeply flawed but its the uniqueness of the experience that warrants a playthrough.

York's little talks with Emily, and the stuff about how he was a punk rocker, and used to hang with a bad crowd were some of the most humane character moments I've ever seen in a videogame.

It's shocking how many games are all about the "ALPHA ZERO THE LZ IS HOT GET TO THE CHOPPER", or are about protecting some small kid, but few games have those truly human moments where people sit down and connect with each other.

360 version is the ideal. PS3 and PC both have problems since they're the Director's Cut so unless you import Red Seeds Profile you will be at risk for tons of crashing, but the latter is in Japanese only. The Director's Cut has an enormous amount of crashing, framerate problems, save corruption, it's a complete mess in every single way.

In general the Director's Cut on both PS3 and PC generally run pretty bad. While >>386608645 may not have problems it's a well known issue but I believe the PC gets the far shorter end of the stick. In the DC you get a couple more cutscenes but they don't do too much to flesh anything out, the fighting system is reworked to make it easier and take less time, and I believe driving isn't as slippery?

Red Seeds Profile is the Japanese localization of Deadly Premonition and it came out a week or two after DP did, it is the 360 version with Japanese text on both 360 and PS3, it does not come with any of the Director's Cut changes, it's the exact same as the 360 version just with Japanese only text, not sure on if the voices are Japanese dubbed either or not.

I recently played director's cut on PC and it crashes a lot, so much that the side content feels like a test of patience. I gave up and just finished the main plot after a few days struggling, still playable tho just annoying.
The xbox 360 version is probably the best. Better GUI, better lighting.
The PS3 version is the same as PC but with less/no crashes.

Did you ever try running the game from the .exe itself in admin mode

After I installed DPfix the only way the game would run was if I did that.

Even when I did that it gave me a spooky error message where I had to press okay like 7 times (and then wait like 10 seconds) and I was finally able to play the game
