you play as a hero who has been strip of all his power so in order to defeat the demon lord he collects anime girls as party members, it's stupid and lot of fun

Shit's fun and reminded me of why I started playing these sorts of games in the first place.

JRPGs fell into the horrible rut that they are still stuck into today back on the PS2. There hasn't been any real changes to the genre and the devs and publishers who ship these games know they don't have to. They sell romance options with waifus to an increadibly loyal and obsessive fan base and make consistent money. Everything else(Graphics, story, gameplay) is secondary and suffers horribly because of it.
