Yes, and the story is basically humanity being the cause of the all world's ills and eshering the corroding darkness (ex.: The Abyss). And if one's humanity goes unchecked, it deforms you (ex.: Manus).

The game has no outwardly negative or positive view of Humanity and the Gods.
