Not really, you can use whatever feels best for your gameplan and you pick whatever class is most useful for your team at the moment.

Stock is usually better than any other weapon on almost every class. Exceptions are sandvich for Heavy, ubersaw for Medic and Ambassador for Spy until they nerf it.

I once made a guy love medic for like an hour after telling him how to make it so he doesn't have to hold it down to heal.
Also taught a soldier how to rocket jump, he actually got a market garden in the same game which was impressive.

For just picking the game up, then Pyro or Heavy. Pyro is the easiest to pick up in the game but Heavy isn't that far off.
If you want a class that has room to improve but still easy to pick up, then Soldier or Demo, I'd probably say Demo though since more spam potential without the need to get in close range like Soldier needs to.

Scout after you got a few hours. Probably save Engineer and spy for last.

Pyro combos aren't actually that good, just W+M1 them as it makes people mad and is more effective 99% of the time.

Remember to check settings and advanced settings.

Demoman's sticky launcher isn't actually a trap weapon, if its ever on a surface for more than 1 second consider yourself a failure because you basically spam that shit in the general direction of the enemy to win.

Always check behind you. Constantly.
Never let an engineer walk past your line, or anyone on your own team, it is a spy.

Leave friendlies alive since you suck and their sandwiches will help you. Treat them like a walking health kit.

Don't spam medic.

Seriously just talk to people. You'd be surprised how often people will give you tips or help you out.

I usually place it an unusual space, with minimal splash damage opportunities (IE, on top of a hill or rise, or at least not in a corner) with the firing arc covering the whole chokepoint, make sure you can't see the red of it's range limit so they can't snipe it.

Problem is engagement. Read your enemy and this stuff will become unconscious decisions eventually. If you see the medic flanking with a soldier, fuck off from the frontline and camp the corner they're gonna turn around in 10 seconds. You're not meant to take on snipers directly, either. If you want an edge when the other team has a sniper, the best thing you can do is not use the sniper spots. He's looking at them, he's expecting you there. If he spots you, just run away and find a new spot. Trying to 1v1 a sniper as a sniper is a pissing contest. You're smarter than that, no?

How do you play spy? And no, I understand how the class functions, what I mean is that even if by some miracle of the gods there's only one spy on your team (because there will never be zero), at any given moment there is a class better suited for the situation other than spy, except for maybe tormenting tunnelvision f2ps.

I always just feel as soon as I switch to spy, even if I do well, it's pretty much a -1 to the team. Which is doubly so for the myraid shitters who flock to the class. At least with sniper I can sometimes hold down a bottleneck.
