I haven't played the newer ones, but there is no way they are as good as Mario Kart DS

I wanna believe it's the best but it's really not. I've got good ass memories from it though. It was one of the first great DS games, it was the first proper online game on a nintendo console, it had some really good courses etc but it's just not the most fun one to play and gets tiring quick IMO.

To be even remotely competitive you have to wear your thumb to the bone by snaking everywhere even though this is barely more interesting gameplay than just driving straight forward.

The race itself, in the newer Mario Karts if you're in first place the other racers speed up and get items one after another that will make you go from 1st to 5th, in the older Mario Karts if you played well there was no way to be caught
