What kind of weapons and armors do you like seeing in game? Form over function? Function over form? Both combined? Over the top? Gaudy shit?
>>
>>386554562
anything that lets me slam my greatsword onto the heads of dexfags in style.
>>
>>386554562

>Spears
>Polearms
>crossbows

No game does them right, and no game ever will.
>>
>>386554562
I like to see sets that have nomad look to them.
A lone warrior who make a living by being mercenary and who can't and don't want to wear fancy armor.
Just so leather boots and some light armor.

Ridiculous fantasy is always great
>>
>>386554562
Scale- and chainmail and lamellar. More cloth- and leatherbased armour. Clubs and polearms and age-approriate military-issue shit.
>>
>>386554847
what about Chivalry: Medieval warfare?

shit.
Crossbows need to take at least 1 minute to reload and rip off extremities and penetrate wooden barricades and other stuff, not to mention penetrating multiple enemies.

I don't know how Spears and Polearms are done in Chivalry, can't imagine it's very close to reality.
>>
Blunt weapons, with half the game audio dedicated to hitsounds. Glancing bwonks to solid cracks to meaty orgasmic squishes.
>>
>>386554562
depends on the type of game really. in their own way, I like them all.

How would the sheathes for half those things even look?
>>
>melee and ranged
function over form

>caster
form over function

the ones supposed to kill with fantasy shit are the casters, while the physical damage remind them of how fucking brutal the real world is caster btw
>>

>Blunt weapons, with half the game audio dedicated to hitsounds.

War of the Roses had all of this.
Sadly, Paradox shut down ALL servers.
>>
In universes where magic exists i really don't care about functionality, for all i know that fancy armour has a powerful enchantment on it that protects the user from damage better than a chainmail.

No excessively designed fantasy armor is as good looking as the nicest looking real armor
>>

I wonder how these are made
DO you carve them out of the metal, or form them while the iron is hot or how
I can't imagine this
>>
I've never played a game with realistic designs and thought to myself "boy I wish these designs were more fantastical"

Plus there's a lot of real world material that hasn't been drawn on for inspiration. There are barely any games with a Late Roman aesthetic for instance.

>This masterpiece of Renaissance metalwork is signed on the browplate by Filippo Negroli, whose embossed armor was praised by sixteenth-century writers as "miraculous" and deserving "immortal merit." Formed of one plate of steel and patinated to look like bronze, the bowl is raised in high relief with motifs inspired by classical art. The graceful mermaidlike siren forming the helmet's comb holds a grimacing head of Medusa by the hair. The sides of the helmet are covered with acanthus scrolls inhabited by putti, a motif ultimately derived from ancient Roman sculpture and wall paintings.

Made in the 1540s.

It's a parade helmet.

Especially fine details like the hair and snakescales on that helmet are crazy

games with normal clothing for the time look great imo and are always fun to wear despite their drawbacks with protecting you i guess. examples would be like the shabby yahrnam clothes from bloodborne or alot of the clothing in oblivion.
