I gave up before I even got to Heavensward, although I managed to get a few jobs and a crafter and gatherer to 50. The normal, likable people are too few and far between, the grind is terribly unfun, and the community is so much of a non-community that even roleplaying outside of the designated rp server is fucking impossible.

My FC is (thankfully) filled with likables, even the kinda strange or kinda edgy ones are good people. We pretty actively kick turbo-autists from the guild so that's always nice. Also, the post-ARR grind is much more bearable than the ARR grind. More xp for shit, better dungeons and trials to play, cooler shit to unlock; it's objectively better.

i only got up to 40 at the beginning of ARR but i came back about a month before stormblood. the remarkable amount of chill people is the only reason i'm still playing ffxiv. if i had to deal with wow-tier chat i would have given up months ago. i love not having to leave chat channels or block a handful of attention whoring tryhards. it's a luxury.

leveling was a delight, too. almost everyone i grouped with was at least tolerant; most were friendly. even in some of the most painful dungeons required by the storyline, people were rational and helpful.

do you even play BLM at 70? it needs to pay attention to enochian EVEN MORE than before because it's on a 13s timer instead a 20-30s safety buffer, the UI phase is now as tight as V'kebbe's asshole, fucking up in UI means losing your umbral hearts, fucking up at all means losing your biggest nuke (and that's not mentioning the possibility of losing it DURING enochian anyway)
just try changing phase with transpose a couple times instead of f3/b3 and see how much of a dent it puts on your dps. blm now requires a much higher uptime than before to reach top dps

Most of the time foul is first because of MP costs, but yeah. You have more than 3 seconds. If you're losing uptime for more than 3 seconds there's probably something wrong with your CD planning, positioning, or the boss jumped and you need to press transpose.

And BLM has 3 60s CDs which give them instants to move with. One of which gives you 3 instants in a row. If you don't have an instant for every single major movement situation at this point there's a problem.

Even when it was the GOAT DPS, it was still less popular than fucking bard. Just having 3 hotbars for the opener alone was too much half the playerbase (controller players).

Crafter and gatherer leveling depends mainly on your leve allowance (and money, in crafters' case).
With leves and HQ items to deliver (bought from other players, you will almost never get HQ items on your own while leveling), you can take a crafter class from 1 to 50 in a 3 or so hours, for example. Without HQ stuff but tons of leves, it will be a fairly fast at first but you will run out of leves before hitting level 50/60/70. Without leves, you will just torture yourself for no good reason. Only exception is 50~60 leveling, moggle tribe quests gives a shitton of EXP at max rank (if you are ok with the daily limit, you can ignore leves during this level range and save them for 60~70 leveling).
Gatherers can use collectables (at level +50) to get pretty nice EXP rewards while they wait for leve allowances, but using the same method on crafters will eat tons of your cash (tons of mats and decent gear every two levels or so), and you could use the same cash to just buy HQ items on marketboard for leves.
