Does anyone know the name of this early ps2 game. It was an rpg and the classes you could pick from were literally called human, dwarf, and elf. I remember the first dungeon was rats in a sewer and the boss was a giant dnd style beholder.
I actually loved the gameplay and the tone and setting and stories, but the game has a pretty savage flaw in how repetitive the gameplay gets. I didn't finish it, hope to pick it back up sometime.

Recommend getting it on Steam. The Gold HD version works well now, without any slowdown issues due to modern hardware after a patch.
Awesome RTS with an inque gimmick in that you dont control your units directly. You only build buildings and recruit heroes, then put bounties on enemies and enemy hideouts. Game gets really hard once you're down with the beginner maps.

Nigga stop lying on the internet.
>>386574784
for some dumb reason i still play the shit out of this game. i like how lazy it can be at times.
no keyboard shortcuts
super heavy on the RNG
but i still feel like the game has alot going for it. majesty 2 does the original no justice.
its just has so much personality for a game.
>>386574795
I got this from a pc magazine I think. I was about 8 or 9 so I couldnt really judge a good video game. Then some of my older friends introdused me to starcraft and warcraft
>everyone in my class started playing wow
>i was already playing this mmo for a year
>they all become good friends over wow
>i could never talk to any of them about games cuz i inly played this
and id do it all again
>>386572908
Do you mean Magic and Mayhem / The Art of Magic?
Great games. Classic. I need to play them again.
>>386572470
that looks kinda neat, what game is it?
There was this really cheap WW2 RTS I played back in the day, 2002ish. It was made by some German studio.
I don't remember the name even
>>386574803
You're right, my bad. The PS1 game was pretty good as well.
>>386575703
Sadly the game didn't really go anywhere fun in the long run and was an inferior remake of pic related.
>>386573771
I remember renting this and not knowing what to do. Still had fun riding around.
I was the movie later and it was quite good
>>386573116
Because only shitters play mage
>>386575841
Travis, that game sucked. Fuck off, if I was going to play anything with you, it would've been FFXI.
>>386575307
Can do you one better, I've got Mordor II on disc for some reason
I could've sworn the music sounded a lot better years ago.
I still miss Rusty Hearts
This piece of shit, i grinded 500 years for a red iron blade
>>386575648
Had this on a demo with Time Commando, always wanted to play the full game but completely forgot the name
>>386576164
more like Rust Farts
>>386576252
Story/Campaign mode was really good and the story and way it was weaved into gameplay was really good. Arguably forerunner of the heavily hero-based RTS stuff we get now, too, but with better base building/management aspects.
Sequel was pretty boring since it went back on a lot of the story developments and also was like "lol now lets put humans in to see how they compare."
>>386575841
I remember when lineage was popular in my town. We played together in the local net cafe and had a lot of fun.
Good times
>>386551414
this fukken game right here was very hard
>>386576468
Dark Reign.
We had this on our family's first PC way back in the glory days of '99. We didn't have a good enough video card though, so every time you fired a cannon during ship battles it would crash.
Me and my brother still played the shit out of it.
Solid RTS.

Best dinosaur rts right here.
>>386576532
Holy shit this was one of my first RTS. I remember reaching a standstill for months with the AI when we both had an unbreakable line of turrets. Might replay it soon
Had some of the best town raiding mechanics I've seen in vidya, believe it or not. Clunky as all fuck to control to control your men but you could call it quits before really hitting the garrison, just looting outlying huts and taking the slow peasants hostage (by manually escorting them to your ship so they don't run away, mind)
>>386571164
this game fucking sucks. you might as well sit on a cart connected to a rail
>absolutely no randomness
>>386577114
this looks familiar, but I would've played it on PS1.
>>386576943
Remember borrowing it off a friend and I'm not sure I gave it back, shit was hard.
>>386577290
I have the demo of this game somewhere on an ancient demo disc

>>386577475
Picked that up in a bundle recently, you won't be the only one that played it for long
Hardest difficulty, no losses all campaign, pre-patch that made it easier.
And none of you fuckers even know what the game is so you cant appreciate the pain I went through anyway. Life is hell.
>>386577475
I played that. It sucked.
I don't get how Firefly went from the masterpieces that were Stronghold and Crusader to that disaster.

I liked it but it was too grindy

>>386557623
Oh look it's lamentation sword.
Bloody name changes.
I used to play this on LAN with my brother and cousin, there were some maps that had a dragon you could tame and ride to kill everyone else.
>>386577290
Any time I played it the game would eventually glitch out and give me a galleon and after that the game lost all challenge because you could just board other galleons and take them as prizes to build up a massive fleet. Grapeshots to the deck were OP for that.
Damn shame it never caught on, multiplayer was amazing.

Trade Empires.
It's basically history of the world through the eyes of a trader. There are various eras, from the first civilizations to the industrial revolution and your job is to make dosh while facilitating the growth of cities through exchange of goods.
Plays a bit like Transport Tycoon with an actual supply and demand system.
>>386585610
how does it actually play? like a city builder sim or what?
>>386552323
I played it. I still dont know what half of those shitty machines that you can build actually do. I still dont know why sometimes my workers start rioting and at that point the game is pretty much lost.
I will add it to my backlog and actually finish it one day.
>>386582839
Seems like something I would enjoy. Does it work on modern computers without spending hours and without using fucking dosbox?
>>386585862
>Plays a bit like Transport Tycoon with an actual supply and demand system.
You create routes (caravans, ships, later railroad) between production buildings and demand buildings (usually cities). The more demand for a good around your end trade depot, the higher the price you'll fetch for the shit you bought and transported. Supply everything a city needs and it'll start growing, increasing demand further.
There's also some other gimmicks like building your own production buildings (though it's surprisingly hard to make a good profit) and multiples maps of different regions between which you can move high value exotic goods at the risk of bandit attacks.
There's no natural era progression though, just a ton of different time-specific scenarios.
