This glosses over a lot that happened in development. The scope of the game was just impossible to actually match at the time. Will Wright wanted the civ stage, for example, to really feel like a civ game. Instead it plays with the complexity of a free mobile game. Then the space stage is nothing but empty planets that you fly to in your shitty space ship that cant do anything.

It's pretty much not, you wont see any other players outside of the main hub, unless you decide to team up. It's as much of an MMO as Soulsborne games.

Pretty much all the mechanics are the same, you travel around with your pawns and kill stuff. The combat is arguably a little bit better and more varied I'd even say, and they havent deviated from the formula in the slightest, just enhanced and built upon what was already there. I also vastly prefer the new classes. A considerable chunk of enemies is also the same, although there are new ones and enhanced versions of the old enemies, the batshit insane lightning albino gorilla honestly gave me more trouble at lvl 42 than the final boss of DA.
How is it not a sequel/direct spiritual successor?

I'd say Black and White because aside from powers and available creatures, 2 was an improvement in absolutely every way. Then I remember Fable 3 was a travesty and a downgrade in every way possible, plus everything after that was just beating a dead horse...then Godus was just a slap in the face of BnW fans in the first place. Probably just best to let sleeping dogs lie in this case

The real Star Wars Battlefront series should have lived forever.
I think the original two were some of the highest grossing SW video games ever, they could ahve kept making a new SWB game every two or three years. But they didn't.

TiP was more like a "definitive" version of the original. It didn't expand the scope at all, or add significant new features. I think they could take the basic concept and make something new and interesting.

If they released a current gen Viva Pinata 3 with a bigger garden, more pinatas, more items, more events and characters, just more features overall you know I'd lap that shit up.

Its devs that release a sequel to "Strip it back to get back to basics of what made the franchise great" That tend to be shit

Look at Battlefront. Nu-Front was #1 with less features on a current gen console.

If they had just taken #2 and suped up the graphics and expanded on the game play with more features, maps, gunplay etc. then Nu-Front could've been amazing

Since Rare's empty pirate (non)MMO will definitely tank hard, it could possible lead to another defunct studio that might have a chance to keep a couple of their franchises. Which than could be released to the PC crowd.

Who am I kidding? M$ is gonna hold on to every last one of those games until hell freezes over.
