Its kind of hard but you need to pay attention to the flashing borders and remember the timing between the buttons. Even then I only beat the game by getting fever half the time.

Even if you grind, the fucking bosses can use nonstop attacks once their health gets low enough. No way to anticipate anything. On top of the dungeons taking forever to go through only to die to a boss that ate your shield class unit in one hit because you couldn't see it coming

It is and I love it. I tried replaying it a little while ago but I got stuck in the level where you have to steal the catapult. I have no idea how I did that when I was younger, because I can't stop it from getting blown up now.

1st game is really strict on timing
2nd game is based on the difficulty you pick, can be insanely strict or very lenient
3rd game allows slight mistakes, but you need perfect hits for the hero skills.

Also if you're playing on an emulator it's much much worse, feels like the timing is off a bit, PSP is much easier to keep a rhythm with.

I swear the volcano stage in patapon 1 is fucked, it's the only level where I constantly miss beats.

The only stages I really hated was the demon door boss. That shit was annoying.

I too dropped this game when I couldn't finish it. I don't have nearly as much trouble with traditional rhythm games.
