Cleve seems to be taking a lot of UI suggestions though, so things will probably improve in the nearest future (at least some basic things like closing dialog windows on Esc).

Has anyone managed to get scaling to work with windowed mode? I'm on the latest version and it still has an all black screen on launch. The game isn't playable for me if I can't scale in windowed mode or can't alt+tab in fullscreen mode.

If he released his code tomorrow I could fix some of these basics issues in the same day, assuming his code is remotely readable.

Actually you don't need to pick them. You can go to your character's spell book and inspect each available spell for your current level, regardless of having picked the spell or not.

So what yo udo is on level up, you cancel spell picks. Don't worry, your spell picks aren't wasted. Then go to your character sheet, open your character's spell book (pic). You can now browse the spells, read their description and pick the spell you think are worth the pick. You essentially don't need to try and error spells this way.

Started fucking around in the first area last night to get used to the UI and play with the character editor for a bit, but I had to sleep so I could wageslave on the morning. I was thinking about playing one difficulty up from novice for some real shit. I made a few characters and took 22s+23s for most of my rolls. Does it make a big difference to hold out for the big 30+ rolls?

Since you can class change later on, not really. General consensus is 23+ is good stat point/time spent ratio. Personally I went with 27+ because I went with a couple prestige classes right off the bat and then you need all the stat points you can get or else your character is garbage.

Stay novice for now, you will encounter enough deadly stuff as is.

Ugh, in the next update Cleve is removing sound effects and some art assets because people have been accusing him of stealing them. He claims he hasn't but is removing them to quell the whiners, just in case Steam removes Grimoire anyway.

All you'd have to do is right click for the drop down menu and when you click on Power the yin yang shows up. Even you could figure out what it means by then, and if not, you can always click review in combat to see what actions your characters are assigned. If you clicked the yin yang on one of your characters and it says its using a power then gee I wonder what that means.

And if you don't know what using your power means then you didn't pay attention in the library and it's your own dumb fault for crying about a lack of information without even trying to absorb the information you are in fact provided with.

So for example 2d5 means that the game simulates two 5 sided dice being thrown. If a weapon says something like "1d4" damage it means that when you attack the game does a dice roll and whatever number lands is the damage you inflict. It's a concept that came from tabletop wargames and rpgs like Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Dungeons and Dragons.

Was there something I was meant to do in the spirit caves? I've explored it 100%, as well as the Aquavia and now I don't know where to go. I've tried exploring the sacred pools but there's a locked door in there. I know you are meant to get some kind of item from some bishop in the catacombs (as Gorlo said) but I can't find the key to it (presuming it's either the door in the sacred pools) and I can't get anyone to say anything about the sacred pools themselves.
