Not quite.

Doomguy was a normal human who punched his officer after he ordered to kill civilians. He was sent to Mars for punishment which were experimenting with portals. Portal opens to hell. End of Doom 64 has Doomguy staying in hell to kill demons. It is then that the Argent D'nur realm is absorbed into hell and Doomguy was blessed by the Seraphim and received the Praetor suit by the Wretch. Then the events of the betrayer then the collapse of the Demon temple.

Doom 1,2 and 64's UAC is different to Doom 3's which again is different to Doom 4's UAC.

I'll always be sad I found out they split the doommarines into different universes and timelines.
For the longest time, pretty much up until doom4 lore discussion my head cannon was it was the same dude reincarnated again and again each time humanity fucked up and summoned forth hell again.

It was never implied that this sentinel was female. It was implied that this betrayer was actually Doom Marine who forever sought vengeance for what has happened to him and his son.

It's just the armor. Doom Marine finds armor at the beginning of Doom (2016). I don't think they'd put him into sarcophagus with armor. In the past he might have worn this Templar-esque armor.

Despite all above - Doom (2016) was a reboot and doesn't have any connection or continuity with previous games.

When you free the final sentinel with that red keyblade thingy, she laughs at you sarcastically and then her spirit floats away. Then if you open your inventory you find a new lore text about the betrayal part of the story. If that's not hinting at it I don't know what is.

It's not a reboot, Doomguy threatened a demon blacksmith to make that suit for him while he was in Hell. It's why it can absorb Argent energy and convert it to armor/HP.

I understand if boring old knight armor has the effect of super technology, but what Im asking is why did this ancient race of super knights make armor that looks like a human space suit. Like imagine if it looked like this, it would be just as confusing to me.
