What happened to 3D platforming?

The industry moved on because it was getting boring.

Died for being full of titles that made the genre look bad, while games like Halo and God Of War started to get popular.
Shame, because it same some really good games.

Crash's recent success astounds me. Or well, not so much the success itself, but the reception.

I mean Crash was already a success 20 years ago. Because the games were great.
They make the same games yet again. And surprise surprise. Good games are still good. Mind blowing, right?

But somehow people are surprised. It kind of bothers me. The remakes while good aren't even as good as the originals.
