There is no actual good reason to have inputs be annoying dance dance revolution bursts. You could easily remap all moves to variations of holding buttons modified by directional input.

I can understand the concerns of old characters not being added but if the said characters' move list is not unique but rather they are just a variation of existing characters (slower but stronger than X, has more HP than Y, etc.), Harada should not bother to add them (but rather just add them to the next installment on the get go).
Ever since the previous Tekken games, I was always bothered with this. They could have used their spot for a character with a unique move list. Yes, Kunimitsu and some of them can look cool and all that but if I want to see them again, I don't want them to occupy the spots for potential DLC, free or not.

I'm fine with them adding guest characters (even though I find it to be weird even on other games) but if they ever plan on adding old characters, it should be characters with unique moves not just a variant of existing ones.

The problem is that you once had a series that is mostly grounded when it comes to fighting style.
The more outlandish movesets being from the bosses like Devil and Ogre who can fire lasers and breathe fire.
Now, youve got people like Akuma in, Alicia returning, that vampire chick, that Italian guy with the lightning moves, Geese etc all characters able throw projectile moves around as part ofvtheir moves.

You might as well at this point have Raven doing the Rasengan. You might as well have Paul getting on his motorbike and have him doing his punch whilst riding toward you. Have King summon his tag team partners to rush in etc.
