What's the best Mega Man game?
2>3>9>7>1>4>10>5>6>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>8
I think Mega Man 8 was the best. Best Robot Masters, music, etc. I have no idea why everyone hates it so much.
>>386523885
8 did nothing wrong.
My favorite is 9. Many Mega man games usually have something in them that can bring the game down, but 9 just really feels like they nailed everything. There's no "that level" and all the levels are fun and interesting, the robot master design is great, the weapons are fun and versatile enough to be useful outside of beating a boss that's weak against it, and the OST is fucking incredible.
9, of course
I'm literally buying that shitty compilation just so I can play it again on the PS4.
>>386523550
megaman X2
9 > 3 > 2 > 6 > 7 >10 > 4 > 8 > 1 > 5 > & Bass
Mighty No9 is more popular than Megaman
>>386525805
Is there even a reason to buy that? Also Legacy collection 2 seems kind of worth the money, considering 9 and 10 are harder to emulate.
Megaman legends 2
9>2>5>10>3>4>1>6
Doc Robots were a mistake.
2 > 3 > 6 > 4 > 1 > 5 > 7 > MM&B > 8 > 9 > 10
Most people will tell you 2, 3, or 9.
/v/ is filled with autists, so most people here will probably tell you 8. 8 is by far the worst one, of course. Avoid that one unless you have autism.

So no-one played the Wily Wars?
>>386527514
Wily Wars is just a set of (bad) remakes of 1, 2, and 3.
>>386527561
The japanese version is a lot better. The euro version (the only english version) is noticeably slower
9 > 2 > 3 > 1 > 10 > 7 > 4 > 6 > 5 > 8
my favorite is 9. best is probably 2 or 3.
>Megaman 3 isn't just a plain black screen
2, 3, 4, 9, and V are the best in the series. Worst are 7, 8
I like 6 and 10 the most because the Rush Adapters and having three playable characters were both rad as fuck
>>386523550
So we all agree that 3 has the best intro music?

You can totally say im wrong in when it comes to megaman zero because i loved and 100% the first one while a lot of people find it to hard due to combos and other options not being there yet
Also i know ZX has cute girls but overall those games are too easy if you already mastered all the Zero games that's why i put them last
>>386528791
>IV
i am still amazed how well the NES tracks converted over to the GB in such a small period of time after the experimental failure of MMII.
>>386528791
I'll never understand why people shit on X4. Granted its levels are more linear it's still an amazing game, and getting to play as Zero with him getting his own special moves makes the game a lot better.
Also I just can't see how ANYONE finds Zero 1 better than any other Zero game. The stages are bad, the stages repeat themselves often, you can't actually game over and continue from the start of a level, you can give up on stages, grinding for e crystals is horrible, grinding to improve zero's weapons is also at its most severe. Really, the entire game is super rough in comparison to the later releases.
>>386529396
Not an X4 fan. When I play an X game, I expect a huge map that I can backtrack and explore and look for secrets and hidden shit. X4 is more of a straightforward action game. It's not bad if you take it for what it is, but it's not my thing, personally.
>>386527662
Is there a PAL60 patch for the EU version?
>>386529396
>I'll never understand why people shit on X4.
Because it signaled a dramatic shift in the focus of the series. From X4 onward, the MMX series became The Zero Show: Featuring X from the Mega Man X series. Also, it had a much heavier focus on plot bullshit than any of the SNES X games.
As a more personal complaint, it started the giant red "WARNING" text cancer before a boss that was completely pointless and would infect every future Mega Man game.
>>386527798
That was what threw you off?
>>386529396
Yeah i know about all those flaws Zero 1 but i value it a lot because i went through hell and back to unlock Jackson, it was really rewarding trust me if you master zero 1 you will be getting S ranks in all the other 3 games
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNDIcXkIAFs
it was so fun to do it all again in the zero collection you unlock mod cards for zero 3 on top of the zero 3 ultimate mode , that combination of broken shit is what finally allowed me to unlock the god damn minigames in zero 3
>>386523550
When did the old games started using the current logo?
>>386529980
>From X4 onward, the MMX series became The Zero Show: Featuring X from the Mega Man X series. Also, it had a much heavier focus on plot bullshit than any of the SNES X games.
Zero was always a huge focus in the games, they always show him as "more badass than X, but not as cool". Also of course the story elements will have a bigger focus now that they can do FMVs.
>As a more personal complaint, it started the giant red "WARNING" text cancer before a boss that was completely pointless and would infect every future Mega Man game.
I always found that shit hype personally.
>>386529579
Pretty valid reason, I still find the combat in X4 to be fantastic though. That's like the main reason I love it.
What the hell is everyone's problem with 5
I thought it was pretty good with diverse levels
>>386530538
What do you mean 'current logo'? It's always been like that
just got through a session of this trainwreck and i still prefer this over x5
>>386529050
MM II was done by different developers(and it was their first and only megaman they made and it shows).
>>386523550

I get that that's it's going off release dates but shits still triggering.
9 bruh
endless and fake man stage are fucking awesome
legends best series
>>386529735
Start the game in 50hz/PAL mode, then after capcom logo switch/force to 60hz/US NTSC mode. Or use game genie(theres also rom hack for it IIRC) to bypass the region lock and run the game in 60hz.
>>386523550
From the classic series, I have to say 9.
Best music.
Best level design.
Best weapons.
>>386530868
>Zero was always a huge focus in the games
Being an important NPC is not the same as "the story is now completely about Zero." MMX, X2, and X3 were all about X first. Zero doesn't even become playable until X3, but he only has a single life and you aren't allowed to use him for boss battles.
>>386529980
To be fair they really dropped the ball in the backstory department for X. Zero had an easy one to slapdown and the implications we're interesting and a mystery. Meanwhile Xs whole battle for morality was just left by the wayside while he ran into rooms of perfectly acceptable to murder targets over and over.
X still had the same representation and presence he's always had in the game. He was just being the wingman for the guy who actually had a character arc.
>>386531441
How. Why?
>>386532316
they say those who like pain are masochists
i like to think those who like x5 are casual shitters that cant take a challenge
x6 is still my favorite for the x series
>>386532415
Jesus. I can't remember the last time I've heard of such an absolutegoodopinion.
>>386532415
x5 is just fucking boring. x6 may be worse designed on a technical level but it's at least interesting.
x7 is a trainwreck all around. Still got a few good tracks though.
Mega Man going from Nintendo to Sega/Sony was the first major franchise betrayal for a game system.
Capcom sure loves stabbing Nintendo in the back.
>>386533770
Sony/Sega got 8 and X4-8
Nintendo got Zero, ZX and Battle Network.
>>386533870
Sony and Sega got the 2 flagship series, Nintendo got the spin offs. Ironically the flag series both died and 2 of the 3 spin offs thrived.
is X1 a good place to start with Mega Man? I've tried the classics once or twice but couldn't get past the difficulty
Find me a better non wily castle castle theme that's not Protoman's Castle. You can't
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FfwruMyFLg
>>386534042
Go for it. X1 is easier than most of the classic games. X2 is even easier.
A word of advice; start with Chill Penguin.
>>386533770
Capcom are third party, there is no betrayal in that
>>386534127
Do you know how Betrayals work? They can only come from third parties because a first or second party dev has to have either themselves sold off or their IP outsourced by the parent company for those to appear other systems.
>>386525719
You're pretty good. I wish & Bass was better. I don't have such a big problem with 8 though. Voice acting is not gameplay.
>>386527514
Wily Wars's English release sucked and was just a rerelease of 1-3.
>>386528013
This is my fucking jam.
>>386528791

Not that anon, but I feel similarly. I'm not a fan of how the Zero series locks rewards for exploration behind Cyber Elves, which the game punishes you for using through your rank. I completed all the Zero games, and while they are tough as nails, I feel that they aren't rewarding enough for being good at the game. You end up getting nothing out of it ultimately and that frustrates me.
>>386534920
I disagree.
> I'm not a fan of how the Zero series locks rewards for exploration behind Cyber Elves, which the game punishes you for using through your rank.
Elves are a crutch, I don't mind that you get gimped somewhat for using them. Even then, there are a decent number Elves which boost your rank back up to A, so you can use other elves and still get those EX Skills.
> I completed all the Zero games, and while they are tough as nails,
Zero 1 is the toughest. Zero 2 is in the middle. Zero 3 and 4 are easy, even if you're going for EX Skills. I don't think they're as tough as it's made out to be.
>I feel that they aren't rewarding enough for being good at the game. You end up getting nothing out of it ultimately and that frustrates me.
Zero 1 is the only game where I agree with these statements.
>>386534042
>I've tried the classics once or twice but couldn't get past the difficulty
try 5 and then/or 6, they are easiest of the classic games. But X1 is good start, although its little different from the nes titles.
>>386534042
2 can be brutal but 3 is beatable as long as you cheese the Doc Robots with their weaknesses.
Everything else on NES is easy peasy so if all else fails start from 4. And I hate 7 so you an probably skip that shit anyway.
>>386535130
To be fair I was mostly talking about Zero 1 because I completed that the most times. I agree with your difficulty rankings though. 3 and 4 are comparatively a breeze. All in all however, I'm just not a fan of the ranking system. It's why I prefer the early X series and the Classic series to the Zero series. I recognize that people like going for high scores and that's great, but I can say that after completing the Zero series their ranking system just isn't for me but I appreciate how it eased up towards the end. I was ok with the satellite elf system and the Z4 system (as weird as it was) because it gave me a sense of the character getting improvements as I grew in mastery over the game's systems. Z2's forms were also pretty neat. I found most of the EX abilities not worth using sadly, but I liked how they made elements more distinct. Z3's e-reader features were fucking great, but fuck unlocking those minigames. Not worth it/10.
>>386534042
X1 is a good place to start in regards to difficulty.
>>386534042
The X and Zero series have a bigger focus on combat, rather than pure platforming. I prefer both the laters over the original.
