We've been married three years and our one year old had his birthday Saturday.

They go to bed, I stay up and play vidya/read comics/watch movies/lift/whatever. If he wakes up crying I go help ease him back to sleep. It's honestly and pretty sweet deal and I'm thankful for it. The only drawback is that I myself hardly sleep anymore, but it's worth it as there would be literally no other time for nerdery.
