>>
>>386513943
madcatz makes good ones that are easily moddable when your console inevitably becomes outdated
>>
>>386513943
Qanba make quality sticks. If you want one with a Korean lever, you can either put one in yourself or get that etokki omni stick, I've heard it's great.

Pretty much what this guy said. Sanwa parts are the most popular in the FGC crowd. I prefer the stiffer feel of Seimetsu stuff and they also feel good with shooters. With that said Hori makes use of their own parts that are pretty good.

Are arcade sticks worth getting for emulating 2d platformers
>>
>>386515138
Turns out the company that made one good product and tons of shit wasn't doing so well.

Also they invested in RB4 heavily which couldn't have paid off for them.

I doubt your stick is worth any more. Maybe an OG TE in perfect condition will be a nostalgia item some day.
>>
>>386515134

Probably the cheapest stick that's not garbage out of the box. Easy to mod so when you get sick of those buttons, you can substitute them for Sanwa. Good beginner stick for sure.

Unlikely. They're last gen sticks.

Also, the stick and buttons may have been made by Sanwa but the PCB's were still made by MadCatz. They're probably not not long for this world...

I'm a huge sperg and play with the stick on my hrap4 really hard so sometimes I get accidental inputs, so also really considering the omni.
It's pretty expensive because I'm in canada though, so I'm going to get a bat top and octo gate to see how I handle diagonals before making the investment.

>>386515697
You know you can just put a worst Korean stick in your hrap right? They sell em in several US and nip online stores.
>>
>>386515652
Just replace the PCB.
>>
>>386513943
Depends on your price range. If it's $200+ its literally up to preference since there's multiple sticks at this price range with pros and cons.

I personally went with the Qanba Obsidian as I got it during the EVO sale. All in all it feels pretty damn good, but a metal ball top and tiny start/select buttons take a bit to get used to.
>>
>>386515697
just do what I did for my hrap4kai and get a bat top and a 2lb spring for the stick

the 2lb spring makes the real difference
>>
>>386516150
Oh are there korean sticks that fit in a japanese mount or whatever? I don't need to mod anything?
>>
>>386516194
Indeed, I've had to. But if he's thinking that the stick is going to somehow be a collector's item with an aftermarket PCB, he is going to be disappointed.
>>
>>386516336
I'd also like the korean because it returns to neutral faster, it would help with KBDing and wavedashing
Does the spring solve the accidental inputs problem? I heard some people saying the hayabusa didn't feel as good with a different spring
>>
>>386516284
why the obsidian over any of the other sticks from eightarc?

>>
>>386516519
big problem with the hrap4kai is how sensitive and light it is imo (mostly a personal thing), 2lb spring makes it stiffer which I like a lot more. Prevents the "hitting forward sometimes causes a back input because of how sensitive it is" problems

but I could just be a pleb so who knows
>>
>>386516601
Obsidian has sanwa parts in it, unlike the Drone or Crystal. The Dragon is too expensive and weighs a ton, so that just leaves me with the Obsidian.

Also I like the aesthetic of it.
>>
>>386516391
The cwl-309mj-kms-st25 from Crown will fit japanese mounts, but none are in stock on focusattack right now. You might be able to find them somewhere else.
>>
>>386516935
Thanks
Do you know many other north american fight stick sites? I know I could probably get it from etokki but I think that would be coming all the way from korea
Also how does a 309mj stack up to a myoungshin or taeyoung fanta?
>>

>>
>>386515134
i've had it for a couple of months now. im enjoying it alot, its my first stick btw.
>>
>>386518117
The shorter throw on the is-40 is nice, but for a lot of people it'd be an acquired taste. Most of the sticks that people lend out at locals are using JLFs, and if you lend/borrow a lot that's what you get used to.

The little back shit detaches completely and then you can use it on a table if your autism peaks

obviously you can replace buttons and stick as well and probably wanna replace the stick to be honest
>>
>>386517890
It takes them a while sometimes unfortunately, so if you want one and get the chance i'd get it, because they sell fast.
>>
>>386515867
You all could waste time doing that, or we could all settle here and now on my dick.
>>
>>386518639
How's the stock buttons on the Q1? I picked up a Qanba Drone last year and found the stock buttons did not absorb force nicely, making your fingers ache after 20 minutes of use.

Replacing them with sanwa buttons fixed that issue, and at the time it was still much cheaper than a TE2/TES ($80 + buttons vs $250).

What kind of wiring does an HRAP4 have?
Because the description of this 303a says "If your current Japanese joystick utilizes a 5-pin plastic connector for wiring, you will need this conversion harness to install the joystick." so do I need that?

easy to install, though
just throw it on the korean stick and it'll connect the same as a sanwa/seimitsu

1) This is a type of controller.
2) The arcade style allows you to use more fingers, so it is more efficient in that regard.
3) It's still personal preference.

I really like this one but many people complain the buttons get malfunctioning really fast (which thankfully hasn't happened to me after 1.5 years of use).

Swapping them is trivial anyway
>>
>>386519548
I just use them because my thumb hurts on pad, but I do think some things are objectively better
The have really short travel and actuation or whatever
You can use all of the fingers on your right hand for them so multi button inputs are easier

I've got the Xrd -Sign- LE stick, works fine, but it has this retarded gimmick were the ball top can just be unscrewed just like that, unlike other sticks were you need to open them up from the inside. Whenever I do a couple of specials I end up unscrewing it up a bit and have to screw it during combos or knockdowns, pretty annoying.

I managed to pick up a brand new TE Round 2 SFIV stick for only $100 on ebay. It's great, I replaced all the button with Sanwa's foam buttons to reduce the sound and a new stick and ball.

I would recommend it given the Round 2 has the updated PCB and it's so easy to mod.

>>386514164

My friend bought one when SFV had just come out. He ended up replacing the lever and buttons because the stock ones were not very comfortable at all.

A decent base stick if you just need something to put parts in for under $100, but probably not my first pick for a PS4 stick. It's quite lightweight and tends to slide around if your inputs are wild.

Real talk, I'm very tempted to buy one of these just for the convenience of the headphone jack. The form factor reminds me of my marvel 2 TE, which I love.

Hayabusa sticks tend to have better tactile feedback than JLFs, and flows a bit more freely. Might take some getting used to, but it's a good lever. I found it harder to use than a JLF/crown for tekken, but great for anime games and SF.
>>
>>386522221
that's what I'd get if I wanted a japanese stick

The OP stick (etokki omni) is a great tekken stick, also comes in full sanwa parts if you don't like korean brands or want to use it primarily for other games.

Madcatz TE, fighstick PRO from the 360 era are great, but would mostly be found used because of their age. The TE2 and TE+ are a tad pricey, but the build quality is still there and they're PS4 compatible (the TE+ in particular is great with its easy-open hatch for part swaps).

Another contender mentioned earlier in the thread is Hori's upcoming HRAP N with the Hayabusa parts. Almost looks to be the second coming of the TE.
>>
Is the build quality of the Qanba Q1 good enough to justify getting it for upgrading?

Hori's dropping the Fighting Edge sometime in the next four months too. The HRAP N kind of looks like a cross between a TE and the old fat HRAPs.

I would just get a decent one off of ebay if that's one of those ones with the super tiny cases

I wish there were more info. I've been on a quest to try everything for the last 2-3 years and it would be much easier if there were a sampler shop set up somewhere. I'm close to having tried almost everything at this point and plan on doing something to help other people, maybe video comparisons, once I've finished my testing.
