Sonic 06's "HIGH SPEED ZONES" were a beta form of Sonic Boost-to-win gameplay back before boost-to-win even existed, but its still different enough to be its own thing

I had a bunch of fun playing it with a friend because the game's so broke. Silver especially can bug out the physics since his entire gamelay is "havoc physics engine" and Sonic gets an item that turns him small and gives him infinite jumps. Yes INFINITE jumps, you can go out of bounds all you want and the game just lets you.

That said no, the game's shit and not fun by itself.

So if Mephiles' goal was to make Elise cry to release the Flames of Disaster when he effortlessly killed Sonic, then why did Silver's story take place? Silver literally had no reason to exist in the story when Mephiles could easily kill Sonic.

It is one of like three games in my life that I have purchased and just not bothered playing more than once because it is absolutely that fucking bad, and I say that as someone who was the biggest sonicfag growing up and was still pretty deep into it when that game came out. Still one of the biggest disappointments I've ever played.

If you can stomach a game that at it's best is mediocre and at its worst incredibly poorly designed and/or outright frustrating, as well as some of the worst loading screens in terms of both length and frequency, go for it.It will be an enlightening experience just from how bad it is.

Sonic's gameplay isn't all that great, I thought it felt worse than the Adventure games when I played it. It's like movement is too stiff, your top speed is too low, and you come to a complete stop too quickly, which just feels weird. It's basically the best the game has to offer, though.
There's also the SUPER FAST RUNNING CAN'T STOP WON'T STOP segments that control like garbage.It's still the best part of this game, though, so that should tell you something.
You can also completely break the game once you unlock certain upgrades that basically let you skip entire segments by just jumping over them

Shadow's gameplay is basically Sonic but with more of a combat focus and vehicle sections which make him less fun to play.
Silver's slow and has gameplay that revolves mainly around physics puzzles in a game that has an awful physics engine, so you can guess how well that goes.
There are also segments where you play as "Sonic's Friends", and most of them aren't fun to play as, and most control pretty poorly even by this game's standards, with Blaze being the only real exception.

Also all of the boss fights are terrible. All of the fights are just tedious and poorly designed, but some can also get you caught in an infinite loop where you can't escape but also can't die.

Also the story is utter garbage, but I feel like you should experience that for yourself to see how incredibly stupid it gets.

The best thing the game has going for it is the main villain because he's so cheesy and dumb and literally a recolor of Ow the Edgehog.

I can;t believe they let the 2006 director come back to make possibly the worst Sonic game (Nay game) of all time.

This is entirely speculation pulled out of my ass, but I think the deal is that Iblis isn't released "properly" if Elise dies, and Silver's timeline is the one where Elise gets killed when Eggman's battleship crashes. I think Mephiles requires Elise to cry to "properly" release Iblis so that they can fuse into Solaris.
