Riyo just made up his own personalities for the comic characters, and it doesn't have much to do with anything in the game. The comic gets away with trashing some of the stuff in the game with zero consequences despite it being official, and has slowly bled into the actual game in April Fool events and even had an original Paul Bunyan joke servant added for the anniversary. It's pretty unusual for a fan comic to have that much influence over a game, but they sort of did the same thing with the Gudaguda comics before this.
