i have both games. 3ds and ps4.

-no voice acting at all hurts it a bit.
-the ps4 graphics are fucking amazing.
-ps4 towns and overworld are much larger than 3ds. ps4 towns even have more people.
-3ds character models have more charm thanks to a difference in style.
-3ds version has a better battle system.

3ds version is traditional dragon quest.
in the ps4 version attacks are instead done right after an attack/move is selected for that character. enemies can attack between your character turns.
its similar to ffx but its still turn based and not atb at all.

also it seems like both games ditched tension in favor of ff's limit break system. (i haven't seen any sort of tension stuff yet.)
you need 2 or more characters to do your limit break supers, but there's a lot to choose from.

ps4 has an additional option where you can run around in battle like a retard when its your turn, but it has no impact.
i think its for kids to pretend its more exciting or something. if you disable it you get dq8's camera where it does dynamic shots for moves rather than mmo.
