It's not like making progress in the game is a linear curve. Some areas are easier and more straightforward than others where you make progress faster, some areas are filled with NPCs and hidden dungeons where there's plenty of things to discover. The difficulty of figuring out puzzles and overcoming some boss encounters is also a factor.

I'm confused about which stat speeds up mana regen, my sage can regen quite well and only has higher int/wisdom devotion is about the same, but my clerics have an extremely hard time. It's really annoying to get to only cast one buff or a few heal spells before I run out and have to sleep

This opens the Door in the St. George, which will continue the quest.

The Ankh is Anti-Spider Daemon and is useless after that for anything other than Dread Spamming on an Invocation class. The Ring is for the Captain for the lost expedition. The Chalice is useless for anything other than drinking to cure heavy wounds after you use it on the door to the Black Lich.

So If I have never played this kind of game is this going to be to much for me?
Would I be better off with something like Legend of Grimrock/2 or The Fall of the Dungeon Guardians as a entrance to the genre?

You need to get a piece of ore located in the next floor down and crush it into magical stones on a machine in the same floor. Once you've done that, backtrack to where you were then go to the edge of the gorge and use it.

Just tested between my high wisdom cleric and no wisdom bard.

No buffs change with wisdom.

Neither shield potency, nor Armorplate. Enchanted Arms doesn't change, healing never relies on wisdom as it is a dice roll dependent on spell level and the spell itself, refresh doesn't change.

This is a 50 Wis difference. If Wis is supposed to affect these spells, it certainly doesn't make much of a difference right now or it's bugged.

I think anyone can learn any spell if you have the spellbook for it. But naturally (i.e. through level ups), maybe only Clerics can.

For utility spells, Wizards can the start with them but most people seem to recommend having a Sage instead because of their versatility.

Just tested by casting spells on a party member and counting movement turns to see how long it lasts and the potency, no changes in turns with any of the shield spells or party-wide spells such as Detect Secrets.

I'm sure you are supposed to be right and something is supposed to be affected, but right now, after testing, there are no changes that I can note.

The top is a Cleric with 93 Wisdom than the bard with the base of 55 Wisdom. I was exaggerating with the 50 higher, I was thinking of devotion, which the Cleric having 92 and the bard having 46 Also, regarding Devotion affecting Max magic, my Bard has exactly 6 less Magic than my Cleric despite the large devotion difference.

Regardless, no difference in these spells.

As soon as most of my characters hit lvl 3/4, it wasnt so bad. Overall, mobs have mostly only been hitting my two melee, they usually dont get below 50% in a given turn + I have multiple heals to back them up. Most fights tend to end in a turn or two anyway with multiple magic missile IV, poison, bard sleeps, etc. Very RARELY will mobs hit the person 3rd in line, who may or may not get one-shot depending upon the attack type. I'm not sure if there's something like enmity or threat, but most attacks (around 85% of the time unless theyre special attacks) are directed at my two melee up front

before my party leveled up a bit, I definitely needed to save scum even for just getting the right encounters - was making a lot of use of the END GAME button. it was worth it though, although ive been needing to rest for mana regen after pretty much every fight, can now get through a few and grind for real.

after the first hurdle of the first few hours or so, being really careful about encounters and reloading over and over its worth it to have a party with a lot of damage and utility, i havent had so much fun in an rpg like this in so long

Well, not much in the way to test that, but if that's the only thing that is affected, that's a shame considering the Cleric's spell list is mostly shields, wards and healing/curative spells and the Bard/sage might as well switch instruments instead of ever casting a spell of the same effect especially considering the Magic cost of said spells.

On that note though, my Necromancer has 85 in both Int and Wis and fizzles a good amount of spell casts even at high spell levels. Even beginner spells like Summon Undead fizzle despite the high stats.
