How would you create a coop Sonic game?

player 1 is running and player 2 has to put down ramps and boosts in front of him

Have you start in separate parts of the levels
Make it so you have to meet up to clear certain setpieces using combination moves
Give player 1 and 2 different routes they must take to advance based on the abilities of the character they're playing as

They have to work together to get Qwop the Hedgehog to the end of the level
Players control ankles, knees, hip movement, and to make him cumon step it up
