Did anyone else really like this game?
I did.

I actually really dig the n64 castlevania games. I don't really get why people hate it

I can understand at the time, but not now. The n64 ones were a lot slower and harder to control than how tight and fast the earlier ones were. It's a shame they haven't given it another shot, a castlevania game with Zone of the Enders controls would be glorious.

Yes.

I was frustrated by it as a kid but I kind of respect it now. Plagued by awkward controls, but that's true of more early 3D games than not so I can't hold it against it too much.
It had some nice environments and was pretty okay overall.

Yeah, its actually really good. Most of the people who dislike it have either never played it or played the first level in an emulator after hearing their favorite talentless e-celeb bash it.

Yeah.
Vanilla Castlevania 64 is shit though

I liked it.
You can see it at some recommended N64 game lists when they are really grasping at straws to name more than 20 worthwhile games

I really liked the first 64 game, but never got around to this one. Castlevania 64 is probably one of the most underrated games ever made, most people only know about it through the AVGN video, where he gets mad at the game for forcing him to restart even though he wouldn't have if he just knew what the controls were. I don't know how he never managed to figure out you were just supposed to press C-Right to drop the explosive.

You should play it ASAP, I enjoyed both, but LoD is better than 64 in every way.
