Does it actually matter? No.
Anything above level 15-20 goes from beyond "Has a lot of games and has a couple badges" to "spends money on cards to get badges". Even then they don't actually prove anything besides maybe that you buy lots of humble bundle shit. I mean I have over 1,300 games in my steam library and WELL over 70% of them are humble bundle/indiegala garbage.

It does for me, I avoid people with high levels because they're loud and obnoxious autists, so the whole steam profile costumization helps a lot in those regards.
