No, I'd only return for legacy, even if I'd have yo pay for it.

It's virtually free already. 15 miserable bucks every once in a while to check out the most recent patch, see the raid, do a few dungeons and some pvp, and unsub until more content drops. Hell, the whole game is actually built around this model nowadays. There's no real reason to "leave" WoW in the first place, the only retards that feel the need to dump it for good are the addicted fools that ruin their lives if they log on, or the delusional idiots with a sense of self righteousness that think they are "teaching blizzard a lesson" by shitting out a quit post and unsubbing.

It's just a bit embarrasing at this stage. It's a mediocre to decent game that you can pay to play for a while every now and then, not a fucking mortgage for life.

I would actually play a buy-to-play game, with periodic expansions, that was based entirely on WoW raids and mythic dungeons. Almost an instantiated game, perhaps with no persistence. 4-man heroics, and 10 man raids, that's it. Class composition for groups, and item composition which follows choice trees of some sort. Also a fun mode with no balancing factors.

Highscore boards for fastest kills/clears, as well as challenge mode stuff a la Diablo 3.

So yeah, that could be really fun. I often want to do a solid heroic, or raid, with some of my friends. But nobody wants to invest the time required to stay on the curve in a live MMO.

A $15 monthly charge may be poor value - and something I'd find principally objectionable because I spend money in there for services - but it's not enough for me to actually care about. Anyway, WoW currently just...sucks. I took a glance at the new artifact relic trait talent stuff coming in 7.3 and I felt kind of like what I imagine an old man feels like sometimes. It all just seems so fucking excessive and unnecessary; more bars to fill and "trees" to complete in lieu of actual content. And even ignoring the content, the current story is just too dumb and the grandiose scale they're trying to get across just feels stale and false.

Literally the only thing that makes me want to play WoW is the fact that I love Discipline Priests and Arcane Mages. I love a lot of the classes and specs. The fantasy behind them (NOT the """"""class fantasy""""") and how they exist and interact within/with the world is fascinating. It's just that the gameplay is the same old 11122221333111133334444 shit we've been playing for over a fucking decade. That shit is beyond tiresome at this point. I'd kill for a Dragon's Dogma-esque game in the Warcraft universe.
