It's just a 3DS with one of the feature's removed. A regular New 3DS can be everything that this is, and this doesn't even have a distinct form factor to make it interesting. I guess it's good for people that don't already own a 3DS and don't care about 3D, but it's still kind of a pointless iteration.

Also the 3ds should have died with the switches announcement. All handheld game devs switching over to the switch would probably allow for a good amount of exclusives to be made and not have it turn into the wii U which had like 3 games that were worth a shit.

Gotta admit that does make it a little more interesting if it does get hacked. Messing with the plates on even the smaller 3DS to access the SD card is irritating sometimes.

Well that is your taste I guess, but miitopia is a very good combination of OST, character customization, humor and basic RPG elements, sure the story is bland by the most part and the difficulty is easy till the postgame where it gets a huge difficulty spike but the game is still fun.

I just don't think it's worth bothering with because the lack of 3D also removes the autobrightener and the slight boost in sharpness having 3D on minimum brings to mitigate the already bad screen into something semi-decent. Also silly audio placement.

I love the design. It's what I dreamed the DS successor would be, back in... 2012? I would totally get it + xenoblade 3D if I didn't recently start grad school full-time.

1) I already have a 3DSXL, 2) poured 150hrs into xenoblade wii and 3) was only making $18/hr at my last job so that's saying something.

wish there were more colors tho. personally think a SNES style, gray + purple, would look sick.

Not worth the "upgrade" if you have a normal 3DS, you get a few extra games and the extra power it has is minimal in most games. And if you're a cheapskate without one, just buy a shitty ass normal 2DS, it's actually cheap compared to this thing and does an adequate job of playing 99% of the library. Hell, even a refurbished 3DS from Nintendo will do it and be cheaper than this thing, or a new 3DS XL will be roughly the same price as it from refurb. The thing is pointless as a budget device and as a revision.

Not him but that's simply not true. Most of the new games do use 3D in some capacity, such as FE Echoes, Ever Oasis, Samus Returns, etc. The only huge title to drop most of it was Pokemon, because it already lags like a bitch and they could only squeeze it into the Pokefinder.
